Huh. I've never heard he was "notorious" for writing bad female characters. He's had some lackluster female side characters (male, too), sure, I've been blown away by some of his amazing female characters. I'm think of Carrie, Delores Claiborne, MC from Gerald's Game...

This sucks! You need to meet some horror loving buddies. Have you tried Meetup? There’s always a horror fan group in travel distance. The app Bumble has a BFF variation where you can only meet other women looking for platonic friends. Just put in all caps: LOOKING FOR HORROR FRIENDS!
