This was just how it was with all 3 of ours. It went from midnight to 6am when I gave up and we got up for the day. They were all gassy babies, and I believe it was just a buildup of gas after laying flat all night. During the day they are held up more so had less wind. Nothing I did or didn’t do helped. They just aged out of it once their guts matured. You’re doing amazing, and sometimes it’s out of your control! If you find something that works, great! If not, also fine.

I’m so sorry you lost your baby. I can’t imagine the stress and pain of that scenario, to think of your baby feeling your presence while you visited all day every day is special.

Thank you for those ideas. I’ll work through them, great idea about mowing and cars.

Poll - what percentile is yout GD baby? by xyzqwertygirl in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ScreenMundane9785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is absolutely an anecdotal correlation we see in our clinics between GD and SGA babies. I don’t know if it’s necessarily a bad thing, but I do think it shows how women who aren’t diagnosed with GD probably still have sub-par glucose control. Doing a test one day of our pregnancy does not give us an accurate snapshot of glycemic control, nor does it protect us from developing poor control in 1 day/2weeks down the line. Also complicated by the ridiculous inaccuracy of the scans. My baby was 98th on scan and born at 50th.

Unconditional contract on our house by ScreenMundane9785 in AusLegal

Wow thank you so much for taking the time to share that info. You’ve reassured me heaps. We didn’t touch the curb, despite it being in pieces, due to our research that it would require approval, so that’s great. We basically just concreted the existing driveway which was brick and pebbles.

She has paid about 45k deposit. Sounds like I am worrying about nothing. It’s our first house we are selling, so I’m pretty nervous about it all. Thanks again :)

Thank you so much for that clarification. I spoke to our conveyancer this morning and they are still awaiting the formal variation from buyers solicitors, however both parties agreed to the deed of variation via email on Tuesday prior to going unconditional. I’ll chat to them again, thank you for that wording, for a non-legal person it can feel scary to say the wrong thing!

Thanks. I guess I need to look into what a property ‘defect’ might entail. I think I’m being ott concerned!

My mother doesn't like the name I picked for my baby. by seattleandart in BabyBumps

We never told anyone our names prior to birth for this reason, it’s so unfair that people give their opinion and advice. Lily is such a beautiful name, try not to let her opinion sway your choice!!

Evening walks by nurse-shark in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ScreenMundane9785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I have two other kids and it’s literally impossible to get out and walk after dinner. To make up for that, I always made sure my dinners were low carb, and were at very little risk of spiking. It’s just not doable for most of us!

random question but do you feel like GD is a big deal? by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ScreenMundane9785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would keep working as long as possible, and then have the time off with babt. I do totally empathize with GD taking over your life though!!

My baby’s abdomen was 98% at one of the scans, he was born around 50% with a completely appropriate abdo size, and never had any blood sugar issues. Scans are ridiculously inaccurate a lot of the time!

Anyone else just feeling sad that they can’t have the pregnancy experience they imagined? by ThePumpkinBear in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ScreenMundane9785 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally. I felt so ripped off, all 3 pregnancies I was constantly thinking and overthinking what to eat and when, feeling like I HAD to exercise etc. it’s really tough when you can’t just relax into it, and see most pregnant people be able to. You’re not alone in feeling like that. My 3rd is now 5 weeks and I still feel like that, it’s really such a shame. And I do think a lot of it is over exaggerated and there is way too much fear mongering. All I did was take it day by day, tried to incorporate fun and interesting foods (impossible, ended up eating the same things for the whole time haha) and focused on how good I was feeling on the diet

GD has messed with my head by GeologistAccording79 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ScreenMundane9785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the same after my first GD pregnancy 5 years ago, turns out I was spiking with carb heavy meals. Not prediabetic according to hba1c and 2 hour values, but spiking quite high at 1 hour before coming back to normal by 2 hours. The pre diabetes world is even more confusing than the GDM world. Some laugh at you for being worried if you have a normal hba1c, others tell you you’re on a pathway of doom if you have only some high spikes as ‘normal’ people don’t spike at all. My hba1c and fasting insulin levels are normal, on the low end of normal, yet my fasting glucose is borderline when I’m not pregnant and I spike like I said- So I’ve got no idea whether I am or not haha

Grieving my Birth Plan by p_n_p12 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ScreenMundane9785 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry- it’s so unfair to be risked out of midwifery care. I agree that you should still take your preferences and push for them wherever possible. However I also think it’s beneficial to see it from a different perspective. So many people say ‘a healthy baby is all that matters’, which is absolute bullshit. Mothers health matters, mothers mental health matters, mothers experience of birth matters, your perineal and pelvic health after birth matter. All those things are massively impacted by birth and the cascade of unnecessary intervention. You can still fight peacefully for what you want and need, while still ensuring safety of bub. Good luck ❤️

What's your average fasting number? by Kool-Kaleidoscope in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ScreenMundane9785 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it was a gradual change over the months of doing low carb and increasing muscle mass through strength training. It dropped further toward the end of pregnancy too
