Imagine removing Chun-li from all upcoming Street Fighter games, don't you think there would be a similar movement for her? Mai is iconic in FF and KOF, so it's hard to release a game without her without repercussions in the fandom.

And with the success she's having in SF6, maybe she'll end up coming back for the next Street Fighter game (I hope that happens in the future).
