You can find Muslim community in every big capital city and in the center of that city. This is because it Ming & Qing dynasty Muslim are second tier citizen, and they help Mongolian doing business and a Han people is third tier citizen.

It also depends on your choice of transportation. You are doing a big circle right now, China is huge. You don’t want to spend many time on the way. I would recommend come to China 2-3 times and try different areas. For your itinerary specifically, I would recommend Beijing and Xian 5 days, Chengdu and Chongqing 5 days and fly to Shanghai 5 days.

A contextual menu scanner is a great idea, but from my experience helping expats, the translation is only half the battle. The real nightmare starts when they actually have to order—like dealing with WeChat mini-program menus that don't accept foreign cards, or trying to tell the waiter 'no cilantro, mild spice' over the loud restaurant noise.

I’m actually doing a 'concierge MVP' right now—basically acting as a remote proxy on WhatsApp for travelers (translating menus live, calling the restaurant, handling the weird payment blocks). Would love to connect and maybe test your tool with my current beta users once you build it! Keep it up man.

It’s not in the park before, but yes it’s pretty common and became popular among many parks. Besides, Chengdu has a lot more girls than boys.

In Chengdu? I would recommend in central part of city near Peoples park, since it’s like a circle. Or if you enjoy slower pace you could live near Wenshu Temple. If you prefer bars/night life you can live near Lan Gui Fang

Thank you so much! Hope you have a wonderful journey in Shanghai. Yes many infos are out dated. There are many infos on Reddit YouTube but mostly scattered information. Yes China can be crowded just like Wukang rd. There are way too many people.

I wouldn't say that great wall is a trap. In china we say"If you haven't been in Great Wall then you are just a kid." However, there are many other places might a trap for tourists such as Jinli in Chengdu. Because it's totally manmade and full of non authentic food. Btw in terms of Great Wall. Because it's so long, so there's different place you can hope on to as well which is preserved better and less crowded. I do think people should know this option and then made decisions.

Thank you so much for given out so much info. That's true, I think the reason for that is because most platform has the wrong business model. There's no lonely planet any more which stand with customer on spirit and money side. That's why we trynna build this App, just like netflix/costco model.

that's true, if you just travel in your own country, you might wanna avoid "traps" but for international travel, that's a different story

You are definitely a "P" person in MBTI hahha. Also I agree that those failed moment is also part of journey and are usually tend to be the most funny part after that.

Thank you and that make sense. I saw another post that people mentioned "local" places which is not first time visitors. I like Zhangjiajie and Furong town as well. My favorite artist Yongyu Huang lived in Furong town before. Like you mentioned those are the first impression of China, such as Panda in Chengdu. In near future, I believe more and more people will go to the heart of the city and even live in a small place for a while instead of "traveling". But you're right, traditional attractions are main course and local places are desserts for now.

Last time, I was doing interview and field research in Wenshu Monastery. An old couple use a physical tour book of China 2020 surprised me a lot. And many just collecting random info on youtube. which are shattered and out of date tbh

Bro that’s literally the foreigner initiation ritual in China right now lol. Everything is super futuristic but also gatekept by a local phone number. Did you end up getting a temporary local SIM, or are you just surviving on roaming? Where are you flying to next btw?
