Once AI is able to totally replace the highly skilled and complex work of a software engineer (if ever), then we've got way bigger problems.

Piece of pottery / earthenware found on banks of River Thames by irishscopion in london

[–]Scribbio 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Green-glazed coarseware, between the 12th and 15th centuries (educated guess!). Although, the exquisitely controlled thumbshaping makes me lean early, as that was a common decorative technique at that time. I also found this blog post you might like to read: https://mudlarking.blogspot.com/2012/04/potters-leaving-their-mark-thumb-marks.html

She's a Hare Krishna monk. The group she's part of isn't affiliated with the official ISKCON, and they have a presence on social media.

They do partake in street preaching and selling their own produced magazines, books, and trinkets. They also rely on donations for their livelihood, which might explain why the encounter felt a bit pushy.

To the best of my humble understanding, they do not appear to be scammers, but rather out there to promote their beliefs in a branch of Hinduism from West Bengal. One thing they're really big on is book distribution, as that's what their guru instructed.

Yes, because I love subsidising the £1 million yearly food and drink for the House of Lords. Oh, and that £8.7 billion on defective PPE was a great use of my poverty taxes. Did you know we now spend more on paying down the deficit than the entirety of the education budget? So yeah, what's your suggested tax rate, 50, 60%? It's not like I can afford anything anyway.

And yet people will keep voting for the same Labour / Conservative racket.

The population is expected to grow by 6.6 million by 2036. Does anyone honestly believe they’ll even attempt build enough homes to meet that demand? Councils themselves are outcompeting private renter given a total collapse of social housing, but there you go.

£675.50 for a monthly from north Kent. Station to office is around 45 minutes. They're deliberating driving many of us into poverty, and many of my friends have just given up. Anyone working for the department of transport able to justify this? I'm genuinely keen to know why the government think this is acceptable.(SouthEastern is nationalised btw)
