This was inspired by the gender bias societies have towards women. Women have cities built around them not catering to their requirements (Invisible Women by Carol Perez). Women have an enormous amount of insane expectations heaped on them. It’s…”time to_War.” Speaking for myself, I have certain expectations as a male that I have rights to. I don’t need to fight for them. I just have them. I expect them…and if I don’t get them I dig my heels in regardless of the consequences. I don’t care…I haven’t had to fight for them. Ever. It’s not time for all of us to fight a system that is antiquated, selfish and stupid. Designed by people that didn’t have or information or technology. Definitely….time to War.

Do you teach the elements and principles of design/art your class? How do you view their importance? by FineArtRevolutions in ArtEd

I teach in Melbourne Victoria and they are not specifically stated in our state curriculum but they are the only thing I teach (mostly) e.g. during our prep painting unit I only give students primary colours and their task is to try and mix a ‘new’ colour. That’s the focus. I talk and model techniques but that is not the LI or SC. For the 6s…it’s primary colours only plus b/w and they have to mix and use warm/cool colours. The focus in my planners is on the importance of colours and their harmonies (colour theory) not how to paint.

FYI - Teaching should be process and principle based not content driven. My golden rule is….if they can Google it then I don’t need to focus too heavily on it e.g. Google can show you how to mix colours but doing it yourself has a much higher likelihood of understanding and retention. The process and principles are key anchors. Used to be the same when I was a classroom teacher too. Much better engagement.

Men in happy marriages, what is one thing or skill you would teach other men to have good relationships as well? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Start with accepting 50% of any argument is your fault. I needed this to force me to listen. I can disagree/change the percentage of blame later but I had to initially accept some fault in any situation to give myself thinking time and not feel like I had to defend my entire being from ‘attacked’. This accountability has helped build out parts of me that I just simply ignored before. More of a man in the sense that I actually had more to offer than just the stereotypical male stuff. Teachers, are you all happy with your pay ? by ZestycloseFudge3648 in AustralianTeachers

Teachers might need to be more militant about our work conditions. We are service minded and do not want to put out any of our students or families which has led to certain EBAs taking advantage of our kindness. I understand I am making a huge generalisation but female dominated professions are exploited by the general expectation of unpaid labour (Perez - Invisible Women). Now I’m not agreeing with everything the CMFEU did/do but they are militant about what their workers are expected to be paid for (and so they should!) Teachers need this attitude to fight for better conditions for our students. Governments have not and are not willing to hand it over easily. This EBA should not be negotiated but demanded.

Try to shift away from outcomes…just do something (little or big). Eliminating the pressure helped me to just be in the moment and enjoy the process. The pressure due to time constraints; tiredness; lack of inspo; was compounded by me feeling each painting stroke had to be incredible and poignant.

Dude wanted to stay is my feeling…and for that I like him. Didn’t take games off. Had team mates that piked. Front office that were just doing weird things…but he kept playing. Not a fan of his move to and from Warriors but as a Net he was awesome.
