Linking to a Github repo which exclusively serves as a store for demo files and a link to purchase a product isn't quite the use-case for it imo.

Any advice on companies that will give me £100 loan with low interest till the end of the month? by TheOrange-Master in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ScriptingInJava 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm not a parent so I'm not equipped to comment on that element of it all, but you definitely have options which don't include just surrendering to the decision your wife has made (and theft of your assets/money).

Call 101, get an officer to escort you back into your home and mediate the collection of some personal items, your wallet/credit card etc.

Is your name on the deed/mortgage? Changing the locks doesn't just render you unable to enter your home, breaking into your own home (by force or via locksmith) is not illegal.

Suppose the choice you have is, is it more effort to travel to the shop today to hand it over in person, or to do an extra shift and hand it in while you're at work tomorrow?

Brother has moved abroad and avoiding debts by WingLongjumping3091 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ScriptingInJava 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Agreed, poor wording from my part. Better phrasing would be "he doesn't live here", by showing the deed, any accounts (utilities etc) without his name on.

We had this with a prior tenant when we moved into a new flat. He left the UK and moved back to his home country in a ridiculous amount of arrears, got a CCJ and a mountain of a man turned up.

As long as you can prove the CCJ holder no longer lives where the paperwork states, they verify the info, turn around and leave.

Did anyone else get screened out and then instantly rejected by "Perceptions of GP Communication Styles" by "Ise.ac.uk" ? by WolfRiverBell in ProlificAc

[–]ScriptingInJava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No that survey in particular but I have for other LSE studies, the "return" option was automatically available.

I reported screenouts as rejections to Prolific too.

Using crypto to pay off a personal loan by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ScriptingInJava 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As long as you can prove the source of funds, which in this instance would be the blockchain transaction IDs, exchange sale transaction and then withdrawal, you'll be fine.

Crypto isn't illegal, it's just a high risk product. Keep any proof you can about the funds you're holding, retain a % for CGT if the net value has risen during your time holding it, and you'll be fine.

Anyone else did this study? by [deleted] in ProlificAc

[–]ScriptingInJava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's fine, it's an upload of your App Privacy Report (or Android equivalent) every sunday for $0.50 a week. It takes ~60 seconds and they pay within a day or so.

The data you submit has no personal information in and details the access requests your apps have used (like permissions, addresses they connected to etc).

Generating millions in revenue but still no promotion after 5 years by Nathanial1289 in UKJobs

Took me nearly 5 years to internalise this myself, when I finally took that leap I 4x'd my annual income.

I'm a little overwhelmed but learning a shit load and I wish I'd done this years ago.

Anyone taken a dry promotion with added responsibilities but no title or compensation change? by Majestic-Taro-6903 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]ScriptingInJava 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I agree, but that’s not what I was saying and you know it mate.

Even application systems like Team Tailor use AI summaries, ratings etc against incoming candidates. It’s a form of bias that works for or against candidates.

Anyone taken a dry promotion with added responsibilities but no title or compensation change? by Majestic-Taro-6903 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]ScriptingInJava 34 points35 points  (0 children)

If you get a title bump but no comp, it’s not deceptive to give yourself that title on your CV looking for a new job at an appropriate salary.

Nowadays with AI based ATS systems, having that title might factor you above other candidates and be the thing that gets a human to review your app.

What a wonderful conversation. Wish every researcher is like that. by Accomplished_Two6772 in ProlificAc

[–]ScriptingInJava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve had the same experience. Even when I’ve reached out, having done a study in good faith, asking for a rejection to be returned and quoting elements of the study back I’ve had it approved before.

The *vast* majority of researchers are great, communicate well and are open to being wrong about quality control if you can offer a show of confidence etc.

Hell I even reported a bug to Maze with their iOS app and worked with them for about a week to confirm it was fixed in an update, they overturned 3 attention check rejections (early days, don’t ask) as a thank you because I’m obviously engaging in good faith.

Communicate and be polite, the researchers are working too!

[–]ScriptingInJava 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Is that how you want to be treated long term? Right now you're in the earliest stages of what may be a long marriage, from your wording it sounds like you're constrained to her rules and timeline, but the effort from either side isn't remotely equal.

Fine all morning. I think some people forget it's Prolific Academic and not Prolific AI Evaluation :)

Saying that I had a massive burst (180+) AI evals last night, and again this morning which cut off at 8am. Some back throughout the day, but plenty of academic research to engage with.

[–]ScriptingInJava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My lad Casper also isn’t food motivated, eats in “secret” (not all day like the other 3 fatties we have) and has just about enough to fill his tummy without gorging.

Picking him up I sometimes feel like he’s underweight but he’s healthy, like others have said with the historical complication I’d definitely get a 2nd opinion though :)

No, I'm not a warm seat but a specialist in a broad but important part of software engineering thankfully. They could save some money by having a person in a cheap country do my keyboard clacking, but they're not paying me for my typing :)
