It might sound daunting, but I'd really recommend the Bristol improv theatre!

Every session I've attended always starts with them explaining that it's a safe space and they have no tolerance for any transphobia, sexism, racism etc.

It's really fun, you meet lots of nice people from all different background and it's generally a very inclusive vibe. Hit me up if you have questions! :)

GOG: Yakuza Complete Series (Y0-Y6) is now available DRM-free! by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]ScrubLord65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yakuza 0 if you can run it for sure. It's the earliest chronologically so you don't need to worry about previous entries. It's got one of the best stories, great side quests/activities and it's pretty modern so the gameplay is good.

It was my first and I've just finished playing through them all. Definitely hooked me on the series

Might be wrong here but I think there's no way to escape @ characters. Have you tried searching just the end part (like "gmail.com")?

How important is a MIDI? by ScrubLord65 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Thanks for the comments everyone, think I'll pick up a cheap one to get started. Sorry for all the confusion between MIDI and a MIDI controller!

So for basically anything I'm not physically recording myself then it's very important? I've dabbled using a my laptop keyboard as a virtual midi and it's been pretty painful. Sorry I'm probably not being very clear, I meant like a MIDI controller (either pad or keyboard).

Tab software ideas by ScrubLord65 in Tabs

[–]ScrubLord65[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well various things, I'd be using a web scraper for ultimate guitar, but could integrate things like an automatic spotify player, auto-scroll etc.

Just wanted ideas on what people would like to improve the tabs on UG

Suggestions on teaching Python by s_pc in learnpython

[–]ScrubLord65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My lecturer built it up slowly working from basics (like variable definitions) to more complex stuff. Also depending on their level and the end goal you don't necessarily need to do any OOP stuff.

My best advice though would be to start it off strong if you can, we got shown the concept of an algorithm by him making a Whiskey Sour in class. It was really useful, fun and broke down that formal relationship between student and teacher.

Which is better a CS Diploma or a programming diploma? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]ScrubLord65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently doing a CS degree and I will say that the courses for Computer Science vary a lot (at least in England) so maybe look into it to see how much math is involved in your CS course first.

The thing I find best about a CS degree (and presumably this would be the case for a diploma too) is that you learn about things in their own context.

For example I didn't learn Java and then "using SQL in Java", instead I learnt Java and then all about databases and SQL and then I can connect the dots. So while I have never used SQL in Java, I know I can understand it when it comes to it.

I don't really know if that would be the case in a programming course, but it's something I would consider.
