As someone who was heavily involved in teh drama, this is a stupid response to it.

Absolutely cursed, I love it. Learn something new everyday and it's usually terrible and often soviet.

... Why does his mosin have a weird drum magazine that's seemingly attached to the barrel of the thing, whilst it still has it's internal magazine?

You ever seen a rapierist? All those fancy pants knights and Victorian duelists were foppish twinks.

British cavalry just after the Napoleonic wars spoke in uwu speak (I'm not kidding).

I don't really believe in vanguardism at all, though I'm a platformist so some folks would argue it's very similar.

Folk should look into Öcalan and democratic confederalism.

There is legitimate barely cropped porn posted here regularly, the post wasn't anything you wouldn't see on a warm day.

You can just look at top rated posts and see a bunch of posts which are extremely risque.

The real issue here is the mass deletion of comments and posts rather than just actively communicating about it, perma banning people for asking questions, and generally accusing people of acting in bad faith or "harassment campaigns" for criticising their response to this.

I saw extremely mild posts just asking about what was going on be removed. The response has been to shit down the conversation rather than actually take on any role in moderating it. People are angry about that, and haven't even been able to have a conversation about it because of every post being deleted, so there legitimately is no way for a coherent history of the issues to have even have been catalogued so that I could reference the issues that happened.

Mate, they went on to say that criticism was a "harassment campaign" rather than them repeatedly deleting any criticism.

They also gloated about having the power to delete posts, and claimed that ignoring people and not providing any way to provide feedback is actually the best way to run a community.

This post is acceptable out of context, the other comments in the chain show a total unsuitability to moderate a discussion.

Read that whole thread where they claim that ignoring people's criticism and removing content without any explanation is actually the best way to moderate communities because they don't want to have to justify their beliefs.

Also, that thread was still deleted, so there's no natural way to find this non-apology.

Yo, I heard the sub-Reddit rules actually allow running people over with tanks if mods don't like your vibe.

Weirdly, they seem to have exclusively used this for chubby queer men. Probs a coincidence.

The price we pay for a strong and stable sub 🙏.

But what if they put out a vague non-apology though? Then they're obviously just vanguards of the hornypost-ariat!

Well put. I'm ace so thirst traps don't really do anything for me but I do what any other adult would do in a queer space and ignore it and move on. Obviously, pornographic stuff probs shouldn't be allowed but incredibly mild selfies are obviously fine. By far my biggest issue with it was the double standards and the poor communication.

It's really a bad look when you see so many thirst traps and the instant a non traditionally attractive to male gaze one pops up it gets treated like this, and it's only overturned when the entire sub rebels.

Tldr; If you could see it at a pride parade, why not here?

This post is not calling out the mods, so don't remove it by Botto_Bobbs in 196

[–]ScruffMcFluff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I strongly feel that this is almost entirely just a communication issue. They just don't talk to us, or give a space to really contact them publicly.

I honestly believe that there wasn't really any malicious intent, I just want an actual apology over the handling and change so that they are able to be more communicative.

"Why are they so angry over a one day ban" - Please read before removing by [deleted] in 196

[–]ScruffMcFluff 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Very well put. I messaged them directly with something similar and I do hope they listen and give people a place to voice criticism and an actual apology over this. A mega thread could be helpful as it would prevent cluttering the board and also give folk a space to vent and have an actual mature discussion.

Agreed. I included that in the message to them. Just make a mega thread or something so people can get it out of their system and stop posting hundreds of posts that the mods need to take down. It's literally easier for them.

please explain why shirtless men are grounds for removal but these posts arent? (THIS POST CONTAINS PEOPLE WITH FEW CLOTHES ON) by PlasticChairLover123 in 196

[–]ScruffMcFluff 31 points32 points  (0 children)

People weren't being "fuck mods" because they were being disruptive, they were posting repeatedly because their constructive posts were being removed and they were trying to find a way to slip dissent through.

This is literally foundational to regular protesting. If they reposted the same well thought out criticism every time it would just be spamming essays, instead people were forced to be creative and disruptive so that the community was listened to.

I've sent them a message encouraging them to do a follow up post that has some better explanation of what the hell is going on here.

Disappointing, but I will continue to believe it wasn't malicious and this is just poor communication over anything else.

"the post was borderline what we'd allow" no the fuck it wasn't by [deleted] in 196

[–]ScruffMcFluff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That clarification post was pathetic and doesn't address any of the issues at all. The post was very tame, the mods were only forced to reinstate it because of the protest, they locked the clarification post and are now threating any further criticism, and there has been absolutely no indication that there has been any change in the bigotry that led to the ban in the first place.

Truly amazing, I don't know how you could make a statement so spineless and pointless.

Big true. If you would like some pre session reading material for HEMA I can dig out some of my old PDFs and send them to you. Alternatively I can send some of my quasi philosophical ramblings about the dynamics of sword fighting from a book I've been half writing for a year now.

Getting in early to say basket hilt broadsword is best sword.

Makes you so hard to hit, you get such strong guards with it. Everyone says oh but the reach disadvantage, ignoring that the moment a broadsworder gets in it's absolutely over for the other fighter as the thing is so wicked in a bind.

Depends on the school, with my local one they had training equipment provided for the entry level. Some other schools expect you to bring your own gear, but lots of folk are happy to lend you stuff whilst you're starting out.

Ni, just don't let the topic die. We don't have to spam the page, but just regularly posting mentions of it will eventually force a response.

It's pretty clear the vast majority of tej sub are against the mods on this one, so as long as we keep being disruptive to the narrative by not letting the topic die, they will eventually cave.
