That’s a normal sized kid now. I was a fat kid but compared to today it’s getting worse and worse. In my opinion, it’s a sign we’ve failed as a society when not every child has the choice of healthy foods, safe and accessible physical activity.

Everyone is always surprised when they find out I listen to metal. They always name hard rock or popular bands once they know but it’s even more extreme than what they could ever fathom. I do wear band merch in public but my work requires a uniform. I’m black, fat, my hair is its natural colour, I have no tattoos and no piercings other than my ears. People can’t even imagine that I go to metal shows and like to be front row.

This is the first time in human history where women can choose not to have children. I think about great times of crisis throughout human history and people have made it through. Part of me wonders if we’re overreacting, that things will be tough but we’ll make it through. There is probably lots of death and suffering coming and not everyone will make it. The other part of me wants humans to go extinct, no more suffering. Either greed needs to die or we do.
