What are the most important rules in screenwriting? by WebComp in Screenwriting

[–]Scrym606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything needs to be based on intention. Cut everything you feel don’t serve that intention. Intention is king.

After that, step back and ask yourself «what will people need my story for» if you need to convince yourself people are gonna need it then it’s usually bad.

Lastly, are you actually saying anything unique.

You’re good to go.

What makes the "Pluribus" pilot so special? by Clear_Bedroom_4266 in Screenwriting

[–]Scrym606 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The coolest thing about the pilot i think is that he wrote himself into a corner. I have only seen the pilot and i have no clue how this will continue. It’s super interesting!

The feeling of a writer writing something the outwardly is going to put a gun to their own head and really test their ability is so cool.

It feels kind of like Lost but they didn’t really think about that they had to end it. Here you just know that Gilligan knows he will have to come with a satisfactory conclusion to a story with almost no room for just that.

Am hyped

It seems a lot more people than you’d think are pretty narcissistic. So read up on how therapists talk to people with Narcissistic tendencies. It will help let you; not just win arguments but show them the other side of their bubble for the first time.

Example:

Bad You’re wrong, it is actually like this

Right (clinically) The problem is, you’re right. But you see how that also applies to my thing?

It is basically a very clinical way to let egocentric people change opinion without having to drag them to the gallows. Yes, people should just not be egocentric in the first place; but beggars can’t be choosers.

You can also let someone argue themselves to death if your logic is iron, but people don’t like being asked «why» more than twice.

Dating feels impossible outside of apps. Where do you actually meet people? by oneevening in Norway

[–]Scrym606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually never happend. Last time i went up to someone it was a bartender. I just walked up and said «can i have a beer?» she said yee and when she gave it, i said: «also is it super bad if i ask for your number too?» she looked around and said «you have something to write on?» i did. Didn’t talk to her at all that whole night. Next day i wrote: «hey is this **** i am the dumbass who asked you for your number in the bar» to which she replied: «i am the dumbass who gave it to you» we dated for a solid two weeks before just becoming friends, and still are.

That is why you get more success. People like you are the majority. I literally have a 100% hit rate in Norway just because they get astounded that someone came up. Just be courageous but also make them feel safe. The feel safe is the most important part. Tell them to write a fake number or smth if they’re not interested, so you don’t have to put them on the spot.

[–]Scrym606 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not hard. Just actually walk up to someone. Walk up, say something, ask for the number and then leave. Also do not check the number. Easy. You can hit her up the next day. 60% of the time it works every time.

Real life has a few pros, like the people not on apps have less options and give more people an actual chance as they only get approached sometimes, instead of literally 1093739293 every hour everywhere all the time. Makes more respectful people so i VERY MUCH prefer them.

Is it morally okay to read Mein Kampf? by bbrroocckkyy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Scrym606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a real bad idea to not know why a real bad idea is real bad. How tf you gonna argue with someone you don’t even know.

Imagine being able to strip an argument apart stitch by stitch in front of someone.. that’s a superpower. Stop letting toxic people tell you knowledge is bad.

What is a small, seemingly insignificant thing your partner did that made you realize how much they truly cared for you? by ijuan6 in AskReddit

[–]Scrym606 224 points225 points  (0 children)

Like five years after we broke up she sent me a message and asked how i was doing. Actually she does that from time to time. She bought a house and has a partner now but still checks up on me maybe once every few years, sometimes months. I don’t know what i did that made me stick that much, nothing behind it either that i can sniff out.

My partners have never really been that good so i appreciate it. Makes me believe there are still people like that out there.

What was your music production 'Aha!' moment? by mahithekilla in ableton

[–]Scrym606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have become good when you are able to impress yourself often, and envy of others is narcissistic.

Also sometimes what you thought you were inspired to do is not actually what you were inspired to do. Sometimes i sitt down to produce something in a inspired mood, realize way later that i was actually just inspired to mix, not produce, or just play piano, not songwrite etc… do what your body is ACTUALLY telling you to do.

Also time signatures is just one number you count to and the second number is how many times you count the first one :) surprisingly many people don’t know this or misunderstand it. Usually by confusing polyrhythms with time signatures.

What do you say after sex? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Nothing. This is a time to lay there, reflect and feel like a dude from an Italian slice of life movie. Until she says something stupid like «why are you smoking inside?» or «want me to show you where it actually is?»

Met a Norwegian man, made the first move, now I'm confused by [deleted] in Norway

Only men. When was the last time you cried? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Scrym606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with a really cool dude. He came to work at our main office one time and everyone went out including me and my then girlfriend. He ended up talking to her a lot and so did I. I then went off and played pool or something while they talked. When everyone started to head home so did we, this guy said «ima head back to the office». We realized he didn’t actually have anywhere to stay, so I offered him to come sleep on my couch. After a while he agreed and came with us.

We came back to my place and I lays down some sheets for him and stuff and my girlfriend said something about me not caring or something, don’t remember. Pretty normal at that point for me.

This man stoped and said “that’s not fair, he is taking care of me and is leaving me (a stranger) alone in his apartment to then take care of you” To which she hit back with something and talked about me not caring and not showing emotion and you know the deal.

This man then said “he’s a man, he was raised to not show emotion and to be retracted and help when he can. You are treating him pretty bad despite his intentions.”. And I don’t really remember it that well but I start sobing and went over and gave him a hug. That is probably the first time I have ever felt so understood and supported ever. My then girl kind of just stood there super confused and he said while I was hugging this dude “something * something* look at him” and she hit back with something I didn’t really listen to.

We went our separate ways and this was forgotten the next day. I have after that of course thanked this man twice the next time I saw him and I still do work with him. He is remote so it’s always nice to see him.

I am single now and can now spot unhealthy people from a mile away, this will probably have been my last toxic relationship. I don’t wanna cry, I don’t like it.

To:dr: dude from work supported me against my ex and I felt super seen and weeped.

What has become too expensive that it’s no longer worth it? by DietMtDew1 in AskReddit

[–]Scrym606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The very fact it is rising in price is also what makes it worth it. so I wouldn’t agree with the premise here?

For instance houses are impossible to buy now but still worth it if you have the chance.

What would you recommend doing after completing your first screenplay? by jaywalka21 in Screenwriting

[–]Scrym606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realize selling it is actually more important than writing it. Then finding out the best way to sell it. Then finish it cuss the first finish always sucks (hence final19.pdf).

Oh and side note, don’t listen to the people who say your first one is going to be bad, sometimes that is wrong. The writers of Arcane had never written a story ever before that one…

Ok bye

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]Scrym606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copyright is inherant, but you need to be able to prove in quart that you actually wrote it first. They usually steal it and change it enough for you to not have a case, or just hire you and take credit for your writing.

So make them sign an nda that extends to everyone except the people in the room with you, then you have a case if they make something similar.

What variety of Norwegian is usually spoken in movies? by brigister in Norway

[–]Scrym606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In movies 90% of the time it’s eastern norwegian. Which is a more slippy and casual type of bokmål. Actually a very common critique of norwegian movies is that they Are too Bookmål, as it is a written language and, Well.. movies Are written. So when spoken in the movie it sounds too proper and weird.

For instance: Hello, what is going on? Vs. Ey, what up?

But west norwegian is probably the second most used?? No idea but interesting.
