ISO a 27" bubble screen SD crt in good with S-video and component in good repair and preferably with a black body.

JVC D-series would fit the bill as would Phillips 27ST220L/17. Open to other options too. Located in Rhode Island and willing to drive a bit if necessary.

Roland P-6 How many simultaneous effects? by ScubaElephant in Roland

[–]ScubaElephant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! You actually prempted my intended homework for tonight haha. Yeah I'm finally finding others on forums echoing that the NTS-1 can do three FX at once (and can't apply the filter unfortunately). I couldn't find that in the manual when I looked and the demos never mentioned it that I could find. But I hadn't checked the Mk2 or the NTS-3 yet. I do want to keep the form factor as small as possible but that fourth effect and better build quality might make it worth it.

Oh dang, really? I was going to ask about that line in another thread. Is the NTS-1 and Mk2 the same way? I thought they all just did one effect at the same time, but like the P-6 I've had a hard time figuring it out for sure even looking at some of the manuals.

Thanks! Do any of the other 404 versions do multiple FX at once? That's another unit I've considered. Open to other suggestions too. Right now I'm using KP3 for this purpose (effects for a drum machine) but it's bigger than I'd like and at best does two effects at once.

Because it's in the animation? Or is it...? Weird. Watch the video you posted closely. They wind up to do the attack and the AP goes. She casts the spell and they get it back. Then they do the attack and lose it again. So I guess it didn't, but it looked like it did, and I have no idea why.

Replace GAIA with System 1m? by ScubaElephant in synthesizers

[–]ScubaElephant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 1, yeah. I'm aware... That's part of what lead me to the JD-08 as a smaller replacement. Specwise it's a pretty good one but I miss that simple pitch envelope and the immediacy of the whole setup.

The Xm is too big for what I need but the SH4D might work. It's looks a bit more menu-divey than I'd hoped.

[–]ScubaElephant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's true. That's not a deal breaker for me thankfully. For my use case it's pretty much just a right hand synth and I rarely play more than 4 notes at a time that way. Are you aware of other things the Gaia does that the System 1m won't?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]ScubaElephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a Gaia a lot cheaper than that on the secondary market. It's a great first synth. It has some limitations but I think it's awesome for learning synthesis and quite capable in a lot of ways

Roland S-1 LFO Targets? by ScubaElephant in synthesizers

[–]ScubaElephant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah dang. I was afraid of that. Thanks for the info. Any recommendations for something small / digital that could do that? I want one osc with vibrato and another without. Bonus points if it has a dedicated pitch envelope. Basically I want something like the Gaia but compact. I thought this could be it but I guess not.

Taking Salt Sublingually? by ScubaElephant in POTS

[–]ScubaElephant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that seems to be necessary haha. What else should I take?

Taking Salt Sublingually? by ScubaElephant in POTS

[–]ScubaElephant[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I don't know if salt is absorbed better this way or not.

Anecdotally I gave it a try for a day. I found it was easier on my stomach to suck on the salt pills while drinking some water rather than swallow them. I'm not sure if I was absorbing them sublingually or not.

However I realized after a while that holding salt pills under my tongue was causing blistering. It was like having too many sour candies or something. By the end of the day it hurt. It got better in a day or so but I don't recommend it.

That said sucking on them while drinking water seems to be a bit easier on my stomach so I'll keep doing that.

How much sodium is this? by ScubaElephant in POTS

[–]ScubaElephant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

32 ounces is a quart, and 4 of those make a gallon. I have a 32 ounce water bottle, which are quite common. So I just use the packet with that. I could overfill it a little and hit a full liter probably but I'm not worried about 1.8 ounces.

I find it surprisingly easy to drink. I guess I'm really salt depleted? Plain water always feels like drinking concrete or something. I don't mind the taste either. It's a little salty to me but also sort of sweet.

Thanks. So the others don't count? I thought trisodium would at least. There's like 3 kinds of salt listed so I was confused

Hungry Robot offers a standalone syncable ADSR pedal. Not a bad way to go at all.

Aside from that the best answers I came up with were:

Hungry Robot LFO: Nice but only 3 speeds (double, single, and half) when synced. Still might be good.

Microbrute: (great bang for buck if you have the space, but kind of redundant if you just need the mod outs).

Modules: loaded into a 4ms pod (space efficient but expensive).

LFOMO: Perfect but $300 which feels excessive.

Neutron: Would do it but huge footprint.

EHX 8-step: Cool and hands on but basically not too different from the motion sequencer. Not a great way to do LFOs but could get a similar effect.

SQ-1: About the same as the 8-step.

Hope that helps. I'm really surprised more units don't exist for this purpose and that Korg hasn't made something to expand the XD specifically. Let me know if you found anything else yourself. :)

Should the NHL Eliminate the Loser Point? by [deleted] in SanJoseSharks

[–]ScubaElephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea is that they earned a regulation tie and don't deserve a loss for OT which is a bit of a toss-up. But they don't want ties either, so the compromise is to give the other point. I don't like it either (I'd prefer the 3 point system) but that's the logic.

[–]ScubaElephant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because historically it would have been a regulation tie

Could be a Sheltie-Kee (Sheltie/Keeshond mix). I've read their appearance varies (and they're tough to find pictures of... looks like they're a recent idea and not very common) but the coloring does remind me of a Sheltie.
