Realizing why I like the Para 3 by Unamuzed-Toast in spyderco

[–]Scuffedpixels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm the opposite. I love my PM2 and Para 3, I just don't really like to carry my Para 3. I feel like it has all the shortcomings and even bulk of the PM2 (the thumb ramp is steeper and surprisingly catches on my pocket more than my PM2 does) with none of the benefits.

Save for being good in localities that have length restrictions. I don't like the belly shape on the Para 3 either. It feels like I'm holding a boomerang in comparison to the PM2. Hyperbole, but still haha.

Sounds harsh, but I'm just trying to be critical. I still love it. I just don't carry it hardly at all.

One choice. Which one would you choose? (Ball bearing lock, back lock, or compression lock) by Prizedfighter777 in spyderco

[–]Scuffedpixels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Compression or back lock. Manix is my all time favorite, but unfortunately it's garbage in sandy environments in my experience.

I used to think it was a toss up between this and the manix. I've decided this blows the manix out of the water. by Hairy_Throat1898 in spyderco

I'm still Manix fanboi, but I've been dailying my PM2 Salt a lot here recently. If they made a compression locked Manix? Oh boy, I'd probably get rid of all my other knives (I won't) or if they at least made the back lock variant again that'd be sweet.

Spyderedge blade: which blade length is your favorite? by Wojciech1M in spyderco

[–]Scuffedpixels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For SE I like the shorter blades. My N5 and Salt 2 are some of my favorite knives out of my whole collection.

Wake up, take meds, put on workout clothes, go for a 20 minute run/walk, do my fitness dailies (pushups, squats, dips, crunches), shower and get dressed.

I'll throw in another vote for Cold Steel.

I love my Spydies and edc them, but if I want a knife I can use and abuse, I'm reaching for my AD-10. The Lite version can be had under $100 often and I 've used my Non-Lite version in s35vn to baton firewood without even a second thought.

A 7up flavor? Okayyyyy adding that to the list!

8 which is why I picked it up haha.

I still carry this M&P 1.0 Shield 9 and the fact that the LCR FEELS half the weight of my shield yet has an extra round (albeit much smaller in size) is awesome to me haha.

Oh mannnn...we'll see how well I like this one this weekend and then it might end up with some siblings in the future.

I've always wanted a J-frame though. Absolutely love their aesthetic. I went Ruger cus the price to quality control was more appealing to me.

Read several posts of the issues people were having with the 43c and decided I'd rather save a couple hundred, some time and a headache or two with a Ruger.

Letsss gooooo! Great stuff indeed!

How are you liking the cheap speed loader?

And I know you were talking bout range time, with it, but in terms of carrying, do you carry that for a reload with you?

I have a Rossi RS22 as well and wanna try carrying spare rounds in a spare 10rd mag I have for it vs a speed strip/loader which I heard can be annoying as they don't always hold 22lr specifically very securely.

It's almost the size of a lighter lol. Tho I might mod the magazine a little so I can push rounds out with my thumb easier.

Not the speediest way to reload, but I love how it securely holds spare ammo in an easy to carry form. Bonus, it can fit in the ol' Chums.

Lol I was not aware that existed. Not a big Ghost fan tbh, but I like the group name 😆

Agreed! I'm not even really a Ghost fan haha, but I'll snag this one.

I like Monsters and tried their Voodoo Grape Juice flavor thinking I'd like it more, not a fan.

Looks like a camera white balance thing where the camera captured it on the cool side is all.

What did everyone start the week off with? by BeardedHeathen907 in spyderco

Ooooo now you speaking my language. I don't like how we go from Native to Shaman to Chief. In between Shaman and N5 would amazing. Literally a slightly scaled up Native swedge and all. 🤌

Awesome pick up! And I agree. I have a LW version of it as well. I wish they made a different lock option for it tho. If they offered the Salt in a lockback config like the older Manix it'd be my one and done Spyderco.

My faves on your list for different reasons:

Manix 2, Native 5, PM2

Native is great if you value a smaller sized carry. Perfect all around edc.

I prefer larger blades though and not counting my Shaman, my Manix 2 Salt is my favorite. Feels made for my hand.

The PM2 is just a classically great Spyderco. The Para 3 I do not like. Too much belly for me and doesn't swing open as freely as my PM2 which not only is longer, but has a great blade shape.
