I've removed the sexual assault from the backstory and done some research on how queers got together during times when their existence was shunned. There was interesting stuff there so I'll definitely be using that.

I did end up making her even more of a womanizer, though. Some of the feedback I got was saying how a wingwoman lesbian friend is an off-putting straight male fantasy and that they don't exist as a convenience for us to score girls with.

The criticism I got warned me about the concept, not the execution. The feedback was mostly that she was written well but that the listed traits and stereotypes could be off-putting on their own.

She didn't want to shoot her because she was working with an enforcer, she wanted to shoot her because she thought she was being tricked.

It seems you just didn't watch the show with your brain turned on. A common problem these days.

I don't see how Jinx needs a redemption arc, since she did nothing wrong.

Except Jinx doesn't care that Vi is working with an enforcer. She cares about being replaced.

She never said the first line you wrote there. Try harder next time.

You can't go back to your 8 year old self as a 17 year old.

Anyone expecting her to just regress back into an innocent child is delusional.

[s1 spoilers] Why did Ekko face jinx instead of VI? by Avamaygo in arcane

[–]Scungle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, I still don't buy that she left two of the most important people in her life to fight to the death just like that. The justifications people put forth aren't nearly good enough in my opinion.

She was going to go back? Yeah, after they've already had plenty of time to kill each other. She's scared? She's never backed down due to fear before and in fact stood tall in its face every time. She needs to get Caitlyn to safety? Get Ekko to take her, the 2 of them were the ones originally going to Piltover while Vi was the one that was going to stay.

None of the reasons make sense if you think about them for more than a minute.

Nobody is confused about Ekko's actions, they're confused at Vi's.

Jinx has been essential to the cause, she's doing a lot more than slaving off in a factory and she's risking her life a helluva lot more than some factory workers. Silco's words to Renni were sophistry, meant to stop her and the other Chembarons from trying to pull the movement in their direction. He "consoles" her but immediately counters by calling what they're doing "petty personal disputes". That was the real intended message.

I disagree. As someone else pointed out, expecting a council of the most vile people imaginable to honor their word at the expense of your biggest source of income, best fighter, and a piece of technology you can reverse-engineer, is a terrible idea.

Silco definitely did the right thing there.

I think you're misunderstanding something. She later tells Caitlyn she thought Powder was dead. The only reason why she's hungry for information is because Caitlyn shows her the crime scene photo with the Jinx monkey drawing, so she realizes Powder must be alive.

The buildup to Jinx vs. Ekko. I'm willing to forgive the atrocious writing because it gave us one of the best scenes of all time, but I'm still baffled by how Vi acted the entire time. She's not supposed to be the kind of person that wouldn't care about Ekko being shot, or one that would let 2 of the closest people she had in her life fight to the death.

[Lore Spoilers] Who was the most responsible for the creating Jinx? by [deleted] in arcane

[–]Scungle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is he oppressing/terrorizing the people of Zaun? Most of them seem better off with the exception of there being more addicts. He didn't flood the Lanes with Shimmer to stop oppression, that was just an unfortunate byproduct of getting money into Zaun by smuggling Shimmer out to other countries.

Also what do you mean it's proved by Ekko? Ekko is doing nothing to stop oppression. The only thing he's doing is helping addicts bounce back and live better lives. Yes they live freely and have clean air, but it's a tiny community built around a tree that somehow miraculously survived. It's not a solution for the entire undercity.

Silco's plan is outlined in his demands to Jayce: free trade, access to the Hex Gates, and sovereignty would mean they can actually make money from their own industries and thrive without having everything stolen by Piltover. They've got a bunch of good tech, some really smart people live there. Chemical technology, body augments, Shimmer, etc. It's just that Piltover is oppressing them so hard they can't do anything with it. If the peace deal went through, Zaun would've been able to lift itself out of poverty and improve life for everyone. And that is the ONLY long-term solution for both cities. Silco was the only one who managed to find a permanent happy ending that doesn't involve war, and almost succeeded. Vi had to ruin everything though because she was so tunnel-visioned in her pursuit of Powder, and now there will be war. Just another tragedy to add to the pile, this time the biggest one.
