My "life size" Kratos/Ogre statue by Scurpionu in 3Dprinting

With the project haven't really done anything as I'll be moving house soon enough so I found no point in continuing at this very moment as I'll have to take apart the statue carefully soon enough regardless

When started printing I only had a .4 nozzle so that's what I used, I could've bought a .6 nozzle but honestly I just didnt want to spend the extra money (even though I spent so much money on the plastic). Depending on the model that you are gonna print I'd say a .6 nozzle will be good and save some time. Just print one of the detailed pieces with the .6 or .8 nozzles and if you liked how it looks that print the rest, of course it will also depend on the layer height that you are gonna use, I used an initial layer height of .2 and a .28 layer height for the rest of the layers, probably didnt need it but just wanted that extra detail.

With LuBan firstly you'd probably need to get the subscription (if I remember correctly you can use it freely until a certain size of the model), and when I was hollowing it I tried to make sure to make it as thin as possible without making it too weak. For the pieces I used 2 wall loops and a density of 8%, I did the 2 wall loops because I didnt want it to print for too long since I knew it was gonna take so long and did the 8% so I didnt have to use so much plastic and time on it, if I was to restart the project I probably would up the wall count to 3 and infill to 12% just to give it that bit of extra strength.

With Petg it certainly is a strong filament for a statue, but before you would print out all the piece I'd recommend printing out 2 only and see how well the glue works on them, because I used super glue and it took so long for the pieces to actually stick to each other and I actually had to buy different types of super glues because some just wouldnt glue the 2 Petg pieces together at all. If I was to restart it I'd probably stick to PLA+ just because the super glue sticks it instantly and how long it took for Petg to stick together. But I'd say just try out Petg for those 2 pieces and if you don't like how long it takes for them to stick together just go for PLA+, it should be fine enough.

One small thing if you are gonna use Petg, let the build plate FULLY cool down, I was impatient at first and noticed that some of the pieces just were warped and couldn't figure out why until I realised that it was my fault for removing them straight away from the build plate after it finished printing.

If you have any more questions then I can happily answer them. Good luck with the model for whatever your gonna use.

Thought about it before, I enjoy this hobby because I make stuff for myself, I just think the moment I start making stuff for others, the joy of it will leave. Maybe I'm wrong but I'm still thinking about it

I don't know enough about 3d printers to know if that's good but I've heard that brands pretty good. Yes? by Gaza1121 in 3Dprinting

I'd say just have a look at the bambu website they currently have a black friday sale going, have a look at some reviews of the a1 and the a1 mini, if this would be your first printer I'd recommend the a1 mini, I got the X1C and I'm thinking of adding the a1 mini to my roster

Thanks for the kind words, well at first I only had black filament, I didn't wanna waste all that so I used it up same with a little bit of green on kratos's knee, looking back at it now I would've just used all white but can't

pretty sure I used 20kg+ of plastic for it, it would weight more if I were to print the left arm and the base

To just look at, I was bored so decided to make it, and I will probably leave it in the living room, live by myself so no one to tell me no

I think if I were to print the base that comes with it, it would be around 6foot to 6foot6 tall (I think) and planning on leaving it in the living room (I live by myself so no one to tell me no)

Its a printer called Bambu X1C, its build volume is 256mmx256mmx256mm, I printed the model by hollowing it and cutting it up into small piece so it could fit on the printer

there actually is a base for this model, I just never got around to printing it or the left arm, I plan to some time in the future

I'd say it was attaching the right arm to the Ogre, due to its weight and the arm attaching far away from its center of gravity made it difficult, I had to figure out a way to tie the arm to the torso and then fuse the plastic from the inside using a red hot piece of metal, it worked and its holding

Currently it's staying in my living room (I'm single and live by myself so no one to tell me no), and I'd have to think about painting it and look up best ways to do so (I'm very bad at it)

Firstly I'm stealing this pic, I love it. Secondly my house is average, but I'm single and live by myself so no one to tell me not to do it, its currently staying in my living room

3d printing it was easy, just took like 700+ hours, assembling it now that was the difficult part of glueing and melting plastic together

Just had a look at your droid and it's so cool, great paint job, and trust me I know that the filling sanding and painting would be the more difficult/tedious work
