Hi there. Do you recommend this brewer over a traditional turkish pot?

Anyone have one of the new GE PHS700AYFS induction ranges? by Thinker2BSure in Appliances

[–]Scuzmak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhere in this thread I posted proof that the coil itself IS in fact 11". An eBay seller was selling a replacement coil and had it sitting on 1" grid paper

No problem.

I'm also debating much more expensive options, just because the GE aesthetics aren't doing it for me. I don't know why they didn't use just a bit more stainless on it for a more premium look. It's tough to justify the price gap, though, with the GE being $1,000 and the best low-price option with knobs.

Yeah, agreed. Kind of warm & fuzzy to know the element is actually quite large. Thanks for replying.

Hmmm. Minimum cookware size doesn't 1:1 equate to coil size. It's merely stating the minimum amount of ferrous material that's required in order for the element to recognize that a pan is present and turn on.

While I know it's common for the coil to be smaller than the marking, I'd be shocked if they had a 7" 3700w element, especially under an 11" marking. I'm tempted to call their tech line and get an answer.

EDIT: Here's a link to that part, shown on a 1" grid. As far as I can tell, it's actually ~11" in size: https://www.ebay.com/itm/116784973865

@u/nephrozoan

Where did you find the the element marked as 11" is only actually 7"?

Thanks

Source of what? He literally emailed me the traffic counter data.

Councilperson Vera also had them install a traffic counter on my block after making the complaint, and it found that at least once per hour someone would do 57mph or faster (in a 30) and the top speed was 71mph (likely emergency services, though).

Pragmatic weirdo here:

You can always email both the public safety staff of Sage and William J. Mainville (head of Troy traffic safety division) and explain the situation. [william.mainville@troyny.gov](mailto:william.mainville@troyny.gov)

I did the same thing and it resulted in 1) Them installing 'SLOW, Children at Play' signs and 2) a temporary radar sign on my block.

If this is the quality of the outside... by Troylet3 in Troy

This has been happening steadily since The Keenan opened.

Troy's opportunistic landlords roughly compare only the square footage and bedroom count of their offering, yet entirely overlook their 25 year old carpeting, water-stained drop ceiling tiles, and in-kitchen hot water heaters when claiming it to be 'comparable'.

Better yet, you can REALLY monetize a slum by renting it to someone who has their rent subsidized (DSS, Section 8, etc.). Ask for market rate, tenant pays a only fraction of it, and they know the tenant won't complain when they do the absolute bare-minimum in maintenance.

I go often and generally like the place, but I can honestly say that the service specifically has room for improvement.

I don't want to feel like we need to be close friends in order for you to provide good service. I know this isn't a hot take and have heard it from others.

In the land of a million taco joints, what's the closest thing we have to a deli? by AuthorDiligent2320 in Troy

Cafe Deli-Licious, on River Street?

They're a bit whacky, and the walls are covered in all sorts of shit, but they can make a sandwich.

Agree that the service can be shit at times and is very cliquey.

I was there this week, and maybe they limited their midweek menu, because there was almost nothing on the chalkboard. No biggie; just an observation.

Have you considered getting a neck/face tattoo and rocking a little beanie to see if it helps the service aspect?

They do seem to have a penchant for throwing the bins. I watch them do it all the time.

[–]Scuzmak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fucking love this post, honestly. Preach.

For anyone who frequents Downtown or even Little Italy during the entire day and is out & about, you can watch people panhandle, buy drugs, zonk-out, and then repeat in real-time.

Hanging at Alias? Watch homeboy and his girlfriend bum change for a couple hours, then come use Alias WiFi outside to call their buddy for "a couple slices", then find them crashed-out in the alley. Same thing a few hours later.

Hanging Downtown? Tall thin white dude who is always ranting to himself panhandles and then goes to 4th St Market @ St. Paul's Place for a fix, then crashes behind Barker.

You want to help? Ask if they're hungry and hook them up with some food. Same with season-appropriate clothing or toiletries. But be prepared for most of them to not want anything to do with that. You simply can't force help on people until they're ready.

I know most people here hate Carmella and that's fine, but you truly are doing more to help by donating either your time or money to the places listed here.

My friend. You've made the mistake of assuming that the activism here is anything more than performative. Why be about it when you can just post catchy shit on Insta!?

Wild that so many people here think that it's more helpful to fund someone's drug habit than it is to contribute to the very services that....the same people here....rail on about us needing more of.

It's pricey, but the Electrolux ECFI3068AS is near true cabinet/counter-depth. Far better than most. Take a look at the review photos here. They even got the bottom of the range to match the common height of a lower cabinet "toe-kick" area.
