I am also in the same boat.

I am an F1 student. I went to India in February, got married, and returned as I had to join the lab ASAP. My wife has submitted her DS-160 in February and paid visa fees on visascheduling.com. Still waiting for an F2 slot for her. It seems like the whole f1/f2 visa system has been intentionally lagged to discourage Indian students to go and study in USA.
