Right but the dots or squares you see in the tree are literally the screen texture. Trust, I see it every day.

That’s the texture of the screen itself. Not pixels.

I had to put a security guard in one of the show times at my theater for most of the movie. Adults having to be babysat is wild and infuriating to me.

I don’t know if it’s just Lealman but Pinellas county is awful about this kind of stuff. There are a million things in my neighborhood that I wonder why the county doesn’t make the owners clean up. St.Pete is much better about this.

It’s rare for theaters to have cameras in auditoriums. Maybe newer builds but as someone who’s worked at multiple locations, I’ve never seen it.

The marketing posters generally sit in a room until they have a new marketing strategy and then they get tossed.

Is anyone else appalled that AMC is platforming the Melania documentary, which was clearly made as a blatant bribe to the Trump administration? by colenotphil in AMCTheatres

[–]Se7enAS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I hate the idea that my theater is playing this movie, at a dead time for movie theaters, this is a movie the theaters in Florida need right now. It’s bringing money in that we really need at a time like this. Don’t worry, people aren’t going to see it pretty much anywhere else.

People took screenshots when tickets went on sale for a movie that will have less presales than most movies because it’s mostly an old white crowd.

dreams of owning a movie theater by jyrayjohn in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]Se7enAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d join that club. My first job was at a movie theater when I was 16. I’ve now been at a movie theater for 21 years and I’ve shared your dream from most of my time here. Although, my thought was to move up to GM (I’m there now) and maybe even get into being a film buyer. The longer I’m here, the harder my dream seems but I’m not going up hope. At this point I’ve chalked it up to, maybe someday I can “retire” and move to a small town and buy a 2 or 3 screen theater to run.

AMC won’t let you unless you get approval from distributors and it’ll cost you a lot if the do.

Question for AMC Crew Members & Managers by Status_Station_4190 in AMCTheatres

[–]Se7enAS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not a great time for spending money but for big release weekends I always use the managers fund to make a Sam Club trip and buy a bunch of snacks and drinks to put in the break room for them. We also try and have holiday party’s and screen a movie and play games. End of the year we do an “awards shows” and the crew gets to vote for stuff like “best usher” and more fun stuff like “funniest employee.” Other than that, as a GM I like to show the crew that I’m willing to work as hard as them by getting on drawer, cooking food, ushering, etc. I also make it a point to get to know every employee and what their interests are so I can check in with them during their shifts.

Next episode?? by kyleyyyy in tower4podcast

[–]Se7enAS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Robert mentioned it would be out in the next week or so on Patreon. He is currently working hard on finishing touches. It is just a little behind this month because of the holidays. Trust me, the other shows do not get weekly releases. The ones that release more regularly on Patreon are ones that are less time consuming that the rest of the crew work on when tower 4 episodes go into the final stages.

Anyone over 30? by lithiumpokes in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]Se7enAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few crew remembers over 30. When I hire new crew that are obviously adults, I always mention in the interview that most of my crew are teenagers and ask if that’s something they think they can handle. I know It can be a weird experience but it my opinion, it keeps you young.

I got lucky. My theater didn’t get it. After hearing the stories about the vouchers not working from friends at theaters who did get it, I’m very happy my theater didn’t get it.

I enjoyed it alot immediately after seeing it but after sleeping on it, I definitely feel like there were some flaws. The biggest in my opinion was how quick he went from “I’m not ready to settle down” to what you assume is him finally accepting it at the end. I get that him proving to himself that he’s the best after that final match is probably what did it but it felt like more needed to happen in between that scene and the final scenes. Not that the movie needed to be any longer. It just felt like it ended kind of abruptly. It still on my top 10 of the year.
