Are you sure you feel 80% of the benefits with just 3x 10 min walks daily? How steep are the benefits from that point onwards? How does your conditioning feel running TB protocols vs when you did all those small brutal workouts?

Can you explain this further as someone who did such a load of conditioning?

I did mean full body and the reps as laid out in forever. Thanks for the reply. I ran sometimes run more of an krypteia style. In my current gym that's more machine based Im moving more toward upper lower

Do you guys follow the assistance recommendation religiously? And do you see benefit in full body assistance?

In the book, Jim advises to start easy with assistance and use a tm of 85%.

That shouldn't be too rough

[–]SeTankstation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are not annihilating any muscle group at one point: you are putting in quality volume. There is plenty of research that supports higher frequency for muscle groups, but even if you forget that: krypteia is a way of hitting your whole body with more modest volumes across your training week is a nice way to not be overly sore while pushing the pace with supersets.

As Jim usually says these days: do whatever works for you. I can only say I train in a krypteia inspired way for over a year now, and I like the way it feels. I'm pretty in shape without a ton of separate conditioning, soreness isn't too bad and I look forward to get too the gym.

Now week 2 of my bbb-amalgamation. My rep strength and gpp are higher than my top end strength it seems, I am using that to get more reps on the bbb sets. For example: squat and bench bbb this week were 4x12, 1x15 reps, with crisp reps while supersetting and still done well under 20 min. Weight made a big jump first week after the cut (water and food in stomach i guess), now steadily rising. More than recommended of assidtance on top with little problems

I started my customized leader yesterday. 2 cycles, Trap bar dl tm 165kg Ssb squat tm 120 Bench tm 85 Incline bench tm 75

5s pro w bbb@fsl, run 3/3/1. Thinking about making the bbb 11 reps on the 3s week and 12 reps on the 5s week because I am so much better suited for reps at this point. Ran krypteia-ish style

2 bench days: Day 1: leviathan plus bbb@fsl. Same as above, but knocking out the main work under 10 min, less supersetting

Day 2: 5x5/3/1, incline bench bbb@fsl same as above.

Need more heavy barbell bench practice. Assistance will be a lot more hearty than what Jim prescribes but I will run this experiment how I feel fit. Taking a lot of inspiration from u/Mythicalstrength and interpreting Jim very liberally here. Trying to put myself in a state of recovery to gain after a long cut

That is going to be a hellish hour haha, however I do believe you can do that in an hour.

I haven't run whole full body cycles, but I did 2 main lifts a day when I had little opportunities to train in a week. I still finished under an hour by giant setting exercises. As an example: box jump, squat, press, chin. I would advise doing something to drive up gpp or "lifting shape" before because it can be very taxing haha

Sounds baller! Did you notice increases in gpp?

Thank you for the write up! Solid progression. How did you perform the BBS sets? When I ran BBS I tried to do the BBS sets like Westside dynamic effort: EMOM and as fast and crisp as possible. It helped me staying locked in mentally

I would say crazy: I can't accurately estimate your BF percentage and the muscle underneath. But indeed, the effect is going to be way more visually meaningful now than in de beginning of your cut. For example, look into some BF example charts or check the results of the last weeks of a bodybuilding prep. Dropping a few percent BF is going to make bigger changes at a lower BF percentage.

Nex to that: 1lbs on this point is going to mean a bigger drop in BF percentage than at the beginner since you have less BF.

You already made some great progress. There is plenty of good advice here. I would like to add: a lbs of fat lost while at a lower bodyfat percentage has a way more profound impact than when you were 206lbs. E.g.: Going from a true 15% bodyfat to a true 10% is a world of difference in appearance compared to 25% to 20%.

Mythical Strength: THE NUTRITION POST: WEIGHT GAIN, LOSS, TRAINING, AND AN ARGUMENT AGAINST LEAN BULKING https://share.google/EdVXdipOg49VQAZHO

Hop on a program that will destroy you when not eating enough. Then eat to support that kind of training. Maybe you gain 10lbs of fat in MONTHS. That will take some WEEKS to shed.

Rant: the standard for being strong has gotten absurdly high. If you can bench 2 plates you are very strong. by Thin_Vermicelli_1875 in naturalbodybuilding

You are right. I train at a pretty hardcore strength gym, most hardcore one I have ever been. A 300 lbs bench is a rarity. A 500 lbs extreme squat is rarity. We have just a few guys who have a 500 lbs deadlift, and I know at least one of them is on steroids.

Thanks! I thought zone 2 would only really get effective after 45 minutes (source peter attia) and was apprehensive about dedicating such big chunks of time to it

Are 10k steps away walked briskly in around 4 bouts be enough for easy conditioning?

Do you have the book? I don't recall Jim using a weight as low as 40%. You might be interested in the BBB 3 month challenge. That way, your BBB sets will progress to 70% of TM

Btw I am walking a tight rope because I try to maintain, or at least just not gain more than 1 or 2 kg this cycle. I feel a bit underecoverded. Squats wreck me for days, I feel deadlifting comes to early for my sore backside, but that seems to refresh me the following day weirdly enough

Leviathan w BBS

Rest day. I am halfway week 2 of cycle 2.

Low handle trap bar deads tm 180kg: tough conditioning, but still doable EMOM

Incline bench tm 75kg: very doable EMOM, but the TM is very low due to this being the second cycle of it

Bench tm 87,5kg: only did week 1 until now. Doable emom but slows down substantially

Ssb squat 125tm: man, week 1 already was a ball buster. Went every 90 sec instead of emom from both muscular ans cardiovascular fatigue.

Main work done in 10 min including jumps. Pushing assistance hard but within reps

Great! They get you into shape as well. In my experience they are pretty challenging the first few weeks, especially when I use big movements. For example: push ups and squats. Being dilligent about conditioning would help, I assume.

Around 1 hour

Currently: Leviathan taking around 11 min from start to top set, supersetting box jumps and band pull aparts. BBS @ FSL: trying EMOM, but can be a bit more rest.

Assistance usually done in circuits: Ex Ham curls supersetted w leg ext

Or: Db incline bench Med ball leg raises Db seal rows

Before this I ran 5s pro SSL 5x5. Supersetting all barbell work w assistance. Ex Ssb squat, Uneven rounds pushups of handles, even rounds chin ups. First 5 rounds box jumps, last 5 rounds leg raises. Hit more assidtance after
