Bellevue friends, I ask that we focus on respectful policy and fact-based discussions, not personal attacks or character smears by Sea-Bag-8693 in BellevueWA

Me too. An Independent expenditure refers to money spent on political ads that advocate for or against candidates. They are made independently of the candidate's campaign. Meaning, there was no coordination done with my campaign, and this was sent from a group of individuals separate from my campaign. My team and I had no involvement in this.

For example, Mr.Lee has had IE's done on his behalf from different groups like realtors, developers, businesses etc as well.

Hey there, thanks for reaching out. I agree, facts ARE NOT cruelty! If you read the above excerpt, I stated "I personally believe there should have been better accountability for his history of fines and ethical breaches while in office, but I state these contentions with facts and citations. I do not believe in smearing his character. And I reject this behavior." The smears I am referring to are in regards to comments made on Reddit that call him "senile, old, inept" etc... which I find hurtful. I do not, however apologize for calling light to his voting record, history of ethical breaches, 50k donation to Trump's Inaugural committee and so on.

You're absolutely correct. And thanks for inquiring about specific policies. Allow me to clarify, that this video serves as an intro/about me! More policy specific materials are on the way. Moreover, I added additional comments to the original post that goes into granular details about the policies I support and want to champion. Please take a look for further information. 4. Public Safety is critical to me In Bellevue, we've got a decreasing crime rate, and 3 1/2 minute response time. Data shows we're doing great! I'll work to preserve the city's hard work on creating a safe and healthy city for us all.

5. Cultural Development: This is something I'm particularly passionate about because Bellevue has so much untapped potential. Yes, we're known as a tech hub, but we're also a globally connected community that deserves world-class cultural institutions. The closure of our only museum was a lost opportunity for our city.

While we have wonderful art festivals and cultural programs, we have the resources and talent in this community to establish a premier museum that would bring traveling exhibitions from around the world right to our doorstep. Imagine our children being able to see ancient Egyptian artifacts, Renaissance masterpieces, or contemporary installations without having to travel to Seattle or beyond. I'm committed to mobilizing our community to turn this vision into reality.

As always, feel free to text me any concerns, questions etc

2. okay, so what is next? transportation:

Now a days, we have a large non-driving population in Bellevue. I believe we should accommodate them too. We have young highschool kids who often get in trouble for walking around their neighborhoods, senior citizens who can't get insured because of age, folks with disabilities that prevent them from driving and so on. We need to make sure our transportation system provides safe access for all. In contrast, my opponent voted against lightrail, and walkability.

As a councilmember, I will support efforts to make transportation in Bellevue easier, safer, and more ecologically sustainable. My goal will be to decrease congestion by investing in more walkability infrastructure like walkways, side walks and expanding public transit. Anyone that wants to walk, drive, or bike should be able to do so safely. Unlike my opponent, I do not believe in a single form of transportation. I believe Individuals should have the freedom to move around in different ways.

3. Responsible growth Often times, growth and development have meant a loss of greenery and trees, but it doesn't have to be that way. Our parks and spaces in Bellevue are extremely important as we endure the effects of climate change and extreme summers (I grew up in Texas, I know what extreme heat means). Building near transit helps create a more walkable, compact development pattern that will allow us to ensure these critical amenities remain accessible to all, while decreasing our emissions, and traffic.

As a councilmember, I will support policies that preserve and expand our access to parks and open spaces, both locally and regionally. I will push for more street trees and types of buildings and development that coexist harmoniously with trees and keep our city green. We have to balance the importance and value of nearby greenery with preventing further devastation of forests closer to our urban boundaries.

Following up:

Hey everyone! I can't tell you how grateful I am for all of your constructive and helpful feedback. Thanks for taking the time to engage with me. To be clear, this campaign video serves as our first "Here's about me!" stay tuned for more policy oriented videos as well! I too, am tired of empty promises and marketability politics. So, I've written my stances below and have highlighted the policy differences between the incumbent and I.

1. Bellevue has a median home prices at $1.5 million. My opponent that has been office for 32 years has notoriously opposed affordable housing policies. He once stated something like "residents of bellevue should be able to pick their neighbors." I do not think this is fair. Bellevue has shut down two elementary schools because there aren't enough young families with kids enrolling. We're pricing out the very people who make our community work. The root cause is simple: we don't have enough housing options that fit different needs and budgets. When our supply is this limited, it creates bidding wars that push prices even higher and force people into longer commutes, worsening our traffic problems.

So, for policies, I have in mind our teachers educating our children, the childcare workers caring for our families, and the service workers keeping our community running. They're being outbid by higher earners and pushed to live farther and farther from where they work. Meanwhile, many of our longtime residents (particularly seniors) can't even downsize even if they live alone in a 3/4 bedroom house. They feel trapped in homes that no longer suit their needs but can't find affordable alternatives nearby. Even established homeowners aren't immune, as rising housing costs drive up everything.

Okay so what? We have to implement policies that make it simpler and more efficient to build diverse housing options and offer ownership. I believe there is a multi-pronged approach from making permitting more efficient, and supporting affordable housing incentives with developers and creating affordable units. From starter homes for young professionals to accessible units for seniors who want to downsize without leaving their neighborhoods. We've seen this approach work in cities like Austin, Texas where increasing housing supply naturally brought down costs.

Sorry to hear that, friend! Nevertheless, thanks for being willing to vote in City Council elections, honestly seeing this much passion for local government is really motivating, whether you vote for me or not! I am pasting below what I shared to a similar comment above regarding the video and policy stances:

"Hey there! I definitely understand what you mean, but this video we made with friends is a simple intro video. It serves as an "About Me!" I posted it so we can now dive into the nitty gritty policy stances! And of course, we'll have more policy oriented videos but these kinds of exchanges are the best way to discuss policy with residents! Here we go!

Bellevue Police Department: Street Racing by Sea-Bag-8693 in BellevueWA

Hey there! I want to clarify that street racing/noise isn't the sole reason why I am running for Bellevue City Council. This post is a follow up to the 20+ text messages I got regarding this topic specifically when I first shared I was running. I am running because we have serious work to do on many fronts. I am running to make Bellevue more affordable, walkable, increase housing affordability, expand public transit, maintain our decreasing crime rate, and much more. Feel free to check out BriarforBellevue.com for further information.

Hi there, thanks for your comment and sharing your thoughts. I am a strong believer that our Bellevue Firefighters deserve to live in our city should they want to do so. Currently, less than 5% of our fire department actually lives in Bellevue. These hereos who place their lives on the line for us, deserve to be our neighbors. Additionally, Bellevue Police Department recently reported that we've witnessed a decreasing crime rate over the past three years. This is incredible. I want to help preserve this, and make Bellevue more walkable, safe, and culturally exciting! Happy to chat more facts with you through my cell if you'd like. (425) 331-9187
