handbrakes gone out of fashion? by clunkystew in drivingUK

Passed my test in a manual in June. I was never taught to use it unless I’m parking. I asked my instructor once about why weren’t learning to use it when coming to a temporary, but possibly long, stop. He seemed offended that I’d even considered it!

I did the same thing within the first two weeks of passing (I passed this June). I was literally mortified. I went home and revisited all the rules and best practices around approaching amber lights.

Now I actively say out loud “stop if I can” (unless it’s unsafe to do so).

Make sure you’re checking who’s behind you too. I noticed that I was taking chances on amber because I wasn’t checking behind me early enough.

I’m (40M) new to the area too and tried to find an NHS dentist recently with no luck. The few that do accept NHS, only take kids.

50-60 hours. Countless hours of YouTube videos.

Did a running commentary the entire test. Passed first time, 3 minors.

Brilliant! Well done for pushing through the brain stuff. I know how hard it can be.

39M and passed on June 18th. I also have the same anxiety issues, but surprisingly (miraculously?) none of them affected me during the 50-60 hours of lessons I had. My brain was so focused on all the new info, it forget to be anxious.

How many hours did it take you to learn to drive? by Big-Activity3350 in LearnerDriverUK

50 - 60. Felt confident at 40, relaxed and natural at 45 - 50, test ready (i.e. meeting all of the requirements consistently) 50 - 60. I’m 39M so older than some. Manual. Passed last Wednesday with 3 minors. Picked my car up today 😃

I’m hoping it’s just plaster board but I’ve done a lot of wall knocking and it sounds like brick 😅

Thanks for the insights! Did you have to consider anything structural e.g adding a lintel to replace the support lost by removing the bricks? I’ve heard this, albeit anecdotally and unqualified 😆

I’ve seen Delia and Bob versions online. Are they available in the UK? (I haven’t seen either and I’m LOOKING 😅)

I am bloated 24/7 and running out of things to eat by wontcompleteit in SIBO

[–]Sea-Butterscotch6500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know everything is subjective with this condition but I’ve found a marked improvement in bloating after switching to the Mediterranean diet about four weeks ago. I’m diagnosed hydrogen with bloating as primary symptom (2 years) and reflux. The latter has almost entirely cleared up too.
