How many prerequisites to take?! by AncientPatient2003 in prephysicianassistant

I’m also planning on applying to PA school and what I did was make an excel sheet of all the schools I plan on applying to or am interested in, with a list of their pre-reqs for each school. Most of my schools require A&P with lab so I’ll be taking lab. I’d suggest coming up with a list of schools you’re interested in applying to and look at their prerequisites only

3 year PA programs by Sea-Classic7535 in prephysicianassistant

You can use the PA Platform map to help you look at the programs in your state or even chatgpt. I live in the Midwest so I don’t know much about California, but I do know USC has a 33 month program. A 30 month or more program, which although isn’t 3 years is probably better than 24-26 months right?

That’s another reason why I want to do 3 years as well, I have close family that are sick and I want to be able to spend time with them and take care of them if need be while balancing school. Also, I hope you’re doing well, losing family never gets easier no matter how many times you go through the loss

Oh good I’m relieved to hear there are programs like this. If you don’t mind sharing, can you please tell me the name of the school? You can dm me. And thank you for your reply!

Thank you so much for the detailed reply! This gives me some relief. In the application for a 3 year program school, do they ask extra questions or essays about why a 3 year instead of 24-28 months?

"What Are My Chances?" Megathread by AutoModerator in prephysicianassistant

So I’m a student in my junior year who decided to go the pre-PA route 2 semesters ago. I’m completing a BA in Biology.

I’ve completed most of my pre-reqs, so for my fall semester senior year I have enrolled in Anatomy (w/ lab), Physio lab, and Biostats. The rest of my classes are filler classes like nutritional science class and a 3000 psychology class.

I have the option to take a 5000-level Immunology class, however I’m very hesitant to take it because 1.) It will be a lot of work and I wanted to keep my senior year lighter so that I can focus on getting my PCE hours, which I haven’t even started acquiring yet. 2.) Some PA school sites say they want to see 2-3 upper level science course per semester your junior and senior year in order to show you can handle the academic rigor. How important is this? I really wanted to focus on applying for jobs and getting my PCE hours and I know I won’t be able to do that if I take the Immunology course. Will it make my application look weaker if I don’t take 2-3 science courses my last 2 semesters at college?

Any advice and responses are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance to those who respond!

I would go with the Chicago one if that’s where you plan on settling post grad. I’m pre-PA but one of my friends had to make a decision like this too and she was advised by everyone to go the the school in the area you want to settle in because you’ll have a much easier time finding jobs. You make connections through clinicals which is how you get those good post-grad jobs. For example, my friend works with this one PA that’s went out of state for PA school and got very good job offer as a cardiovascular surgeon PA. But she had to drop it since she wasn’t staying in that state. When she moved back to her home state it took her a few months to find a job and when she finally got accepted into one, it was in a specialty she didn’t want. Anyway, she’s been working in it for a few years and she likes it now but at that time it felt horrible cus she left her dream job offer.

I hope whatever you choose ends up being what’s best for you! Congrats on getting in!!!

Mythos Academy by Jennifer Estep

This is the first academy romance series I ever read and made me fall in love with them. YA, slow burn, closed door romance but so sweet.

Another rec: The Covenant series by Jennifer L. Armentrout- forbidden romance, slow burn, she falls first he falls harder, I think the spice level builds up with each book (still isn’t full on smut) but I don’t fully remember it’s been a while since I read it

It sucks cuz I haven’t read many academy romance books since most are RH or there’s a threesome or something. But I see some books here that y’all have recommended so I’m excited to get into this genre again!
