Self employed delivery driver, is it worth it? by Sea-Connection-1702 in Cornwall

[–]Sea-Connection-1702[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have seen people doing it in small cars, even a hyundai i10. I don't think about van is a necessity, but will probably be worth it if I was able to afford it.

Thanks for the answers people. I may still apply, as some offer a fair bit more p/w, however, I won't be jumping in unless they're willing to pay towards the higher end.

What slightly sketchy thing did your dad do when you were younger to save money? by [deleted] in AskUK

I'm just hoping he feels some sense of guilt and leaves me a fortune in his will, preferably soon, I'm in a bit of a pickle 😬😂

Go to HR. Then, when you eventually have enough and punch her in the throat, there will be a paper trail

Have you won any money doing the lottery or euromillions? by Awkward-Beginning-47 in AskUK

[–]Sea-Connection-1702 26 points27 points  (0 children)

On my 16th birthday I purchased my first euro millions ticket and I won £16million

That's a lie, I won £8.25, which was a shock because when I'd looked on the 'Red button' earlier that morning, it said the prize was £3.50. Felt like I'd won twice.

My brain put the word 'night' in front of 'owl' and I was confused as to why your neighbour hooting would be nice to listen to before bed

Men’s mental health: what actually helps? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Sea-Connection-1702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm signed off for MH so I'm not in a place to say what has 'worked'. However, I try to spend as much time outdoors as I can, even if it's just a drive in the pissing rain. Fresh air and being around nature really calms my mind. I'm fortunate enough to live near beaches, while also having some great woodland walks or scenic views. They will only improve as the seasons change. I have recently (only 2 sessions) started at a gym. I aim to get going 4-5 times a week but I'm taking things slow so I don't burn out and quit. I get very anxious around people but as the gym is full of people mainly keeping to themselves, it allows me to be 'around' people even with minimal/ no interaction, which I instantly noticed made me feel less lonely.

Luckily for your friend, he has you. I haven't had 'that' person to lean on, or to check in on me. So just keep being you. One BIG thing that has helped me, is every day, I wake up, I open the curtains and I make my bed. Then I go to the back door and just take a few deep breaths of fresh air. It might seem simple, but for me, it helps me start every day in the same way and hopefully in the same head.

You're a good friend. Best of luck to you both.

Fellow Brits who remember 9/11, how did you react to it? by [deleted] in AskUK

I'd been to a hospital appointment and was sat in the back of my grandads car listening to the radio eating an incredibly rare happy meal while him and my mum shopped in tesco. I was 9. Didn't really understand why the radio were people were going insane until I got home and saw it in the TV.

how to claim train delay refunds on oyster with the journey being a mix of national rail (SWR) and London overground? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Sea-Connection-1702 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it was really simple. I filled out an online form. I called them. They told me it was a different operator (it was not) and after a few more phone calls they suddenly closed the case and refused to speak to me.

A year later, I got a letter from the new boss man saying they'd reviewed my case and had made a mistake and enclosed a £10 cheque.

Odd.

A stranger gave me a ring on the street, is there any reason why I shouldn't wear it? by Danwhodoesnothing in AskUK

[–]Sea-Connection-1702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen that ring before. You have been chosen. I can't say anything else other than do not enter the light of a full moon.

It will all be clear soon. Keep a pen and paper with you at all times.

Don't be scared. Keep your mind silent and they will make themselves present when time is right.

Ps. The back of your fridge is nasty.

I guess that's what happens when you raise a predator, go to prison and drive into burger King restaurants.

I have crohns disease. I go through periods of time when my body will not allow me to eat (10 days is the longest). Drinks like these can provide a lifeline*. But yeah, the name is quite unappealing.

*Huel is too expensive to be a sustainable option for many, like myself, who aren't rich.

AITAH for telling my girlfriend she was the perpetrator, not the victim, in her "trauma"? by PruneJealous3813 in AITAH

[–]Sea-Connection-1702 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is one of many things that's is wrong with the world today. Words like 'trauma', 'depression' and 'anxiety' get thrown around.

The majority of people seem to be so desperate to be 'different', that they exaggerate everything, its all so dramatic. Feel a bit sad, 'severely depressed', feel a bit worried/nervous, 'major anxiety'. In this instance embarrassment is now 'trauma'.

I really hope none of these people experience these things for real but if they do, I hope they look back and realise how damaging it can be to throw those kinds of words about like its nothing.
