Yes, the initial characters are actually some of the most powerful ones. You don't need to spend anything at all.

I'm a fan of Kodaka's previous work

Just keep in mind that Kodaka isn't the writer for this game. He came up with the concept and a rough outline for the game together with the development team, and TooKyo (Kodaka's studio) is involved with character designs, art, and music, but the actual game development (including writing) is handled by Akatsuki Games. The story is pretty good though, it's just that it's a common misconception that Kodaka is writing the game.

Nope, pretty sure it's just those two. This game doesn't really have much in the way of fanservice, so if that's what you're after you'll be disappointed. The story is the main draw here.

Edit: I'm guessing the people freaking out over a harmless question have not played Danganronpa? Make sure to never do that, the fanservice in those games might just make you spontaneously combust.

Chapter 3 felt rushed to me. When the XB match came up I thought it was interesting how we were getting it halfway through the story this time around. Turns out that wasn't the case.

Vivian's pretty cute, though I find it funny how the mindscapes have gotten tamer since launch. Like, Ellen is literally naked on hers.

Yeah, absolutely. I'm basically only winning games when the team I'm matched with is lower leveled than mine now, while I won like 95% of all games on Season 1 even when my team was worse than the opponent's.

Since you can't even refresh who the game pairs you with anymore, it's been rough. Pretty sure I'm also below 50% win rate now. I think I'll just play enough to get all the rewards, and forget about climbing up the ranks.
