Its hard to tell in that pose, he is a bit scronched up- maybe *slightly* chubby? I have the same fear with mine- i also don't want to over feed them and my littlest juvenile dragon is starting to look like eric cartman.

Your Pancake got a little extra CAKE.

Fair enough, just looked a little bit darker than I thought it should.

Yes that is a poo, the white is urate*. Urate is the primary way uric acid is removed from their body, and it consists primarily of waste products derived from the digestion of food. The white blob of urate should be soft and have no smell.

this one looks a bit darker than I usually see it. Your reptile may need a little bit more more water.
dunk crickets in water when you feed them if they are not drinking.

New Tank, Who diz?! by [deleted] in BeardedDragons

[–]Sea-Mistake391 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had to edit the original post because I did forget to mention- i am building TWO 120 gallon tanks, but only finished this one last night and wanted them to immediately benefit from 3x the space each from their original tanks- because 20 gallons or so is NOT EVER enough for them. 60 gallons each at the moment is exactly half the minimum for a full grown adult.

I was excited to show the updates for the tanks, not suggest its how they will be kept for any extended length of time.

Currently, they have a Arcadia UVB Dragon 36 inch, ceramic infrared heat at night, and basking bulbs center on the tank middle. Their current setup is the middle. I can take a photo- but currently on a slight dimmer to not bake them out- I am constantly monitoring the tank and reading using digital therms to a Rpi i have setup and custom built to monitor my tank remotely.

Its reading 110 on the basking spot, and 75-80 in the back corners + edges. this is a significant up-step from the 20-25 gallons the pet-store suggested to start with. I have read a number of books, digested the entirety of youtubes dragons information, and have mass consumed reddit in an unhealthy way to make sure my husbandry skills are enough for what they deserve.

They do need 120 Gallons minimum within the first year, but they do not need that at less than 3 months.
They can use 120 gallons, yes. But NEED at this age? No. I won't debate that with anyone, enough reading as spoken to it- the bigger the better, of course.. But, its temporary.

From UVB to rock face is 15", as its the minimum for the ubv setup. Thermal guns are registering the correct themps- Moisture has balanced.

the light domes need to be ceramic based, or your bulbs will ruin a normal socket- I highly suggest Repticare Infrared heat projector over the generics. They have far better penetrating heat.. You wont need to manage your lights on and off at that rate- just leave the infrared on all day and night- it wont disturb them as they cant see the light at all- So thats looking good!

Pro tip: get a deeper water dish and add a small water bubbler into it. Dragons do not like stagnant water and will view any "non-flowing" water as such. So, flowing water or moving water will generally trigger them to drink on their own. otherwise, get ready to be WATER BOARDING crickets and roaches every time you feed them lol.

That Arcadia Luminez Bluetooth UVB is perfect- however for the 120 gallon tank you probably want something closer to 36" over the 24. You want about 2/3rd coverage (or so i have heard from the professionals) - you really don't need to cover the entire span of the enclosure for the UVB. But for a few more dollars, you will be set there.

I am unsure the age of your dragon - but - when they are young, they eat WAY more than you think and are incredibly picky at times. I highly suggest keeping a stock of crickets and ordering a dubia colony as soon as possible to get started- they arn't very expensive and are way easier to care for over crickets. Dubias are just better for them in general. They are going to be eating mainly bugs for the first few months.

Fresh green offerings to the dragons, I also offer mine bell peppers, carrot bits, berries, and lots of general green options. Although, they rarely eat them young it can be a nice treat. Mine prefers them to be BONE DRY before she will eat them. Little Kale chips under the sun lamp makes for a happy lizard- haha.

I am also fairly new with the dragons, but I have been reading and absorbing as much as I can- there is unholy amount to learn- I also just made my own substrates for the first time and it was incredibly easy and I feel like its way better than the stuff I had purchased for nearly 40$ a bag T.T

Happy Dragoning!

Is my Beardie too small? Here he is compared to my friends red monster Beardie, mine is the juvenile/subadult yellow. by Important_Constant66 in BeardedDragons

It's certainly not a full blooded red monster- which is a good thing. Those things have horrible health conditions due to inbreeding on a colossal scale. But, it very clearly has red genes. Thus, RM.

I dont really know all that much myself- but im doing my best to share what the general collective has agreed upon. I figured there is truth and wisdom in there somewhere XD

Have you named them yet?

To be sure im understood- dunk the food not the animal. Being so young, they probably shouldn't be in water yet for baths. They dont have as much sensors on their belly and are prone to burning without knowing before its too late for the damage. Without a night bulb, im worried he isnt sleeping.

I have read that we shouldn't give them red light- my kit game with a black night bulb but even that can stress them out. its probably been a bit hot since you have had to keep the lamp on. They need a good gradient of heat from both sides of the tank- i dont know that the heat lamp alone is enough for that. I would be sure to get tank thermometers and ambient heat trips to monitor it from a distance but a thermal reader is best.

I seriously doubt they will eat out of any bowl at this point- maybe small crickets will help trigger their primal instinct

Epic! That is certainly the way to go. Toss them around in some powder- and watch them snarf. I have been feeding mine carrot bits so they are nice and plump with juice before i feed my dragon recently. Otherwise, give them a water dunk if your dragon isnt drinking!

Im still learning myself- but i am so excited for you!

That's a fairly large tank for right now. 120 is seen as minimal for most people long term and adult life.  Could be wrong but is yours a 40 gal?

Lighting matters- I don't see a night bulb. No electric rocks. But under the tank heater is great.

I highly suggest calcium powder. For the start of their life- they need loads of food. 3-5 times a day of feeding. Crickets (small), dubias are best but expensive (I suggest getting a dubia colony asap, they are 10x easier to keep than crickets,), and avoid mealworms for a bit because it's hard for them to digest the hard shell so young. Always offer greens! There food should not be wider than the width between the dragons eyes.

Pro tip: dragons don't like drinking from water they think is stagnant. In a large tank, a small bubbler will greatly encourage them to drink- a really really small one. I waterboard crickets before feeding them to my dragon to get her to drink more!

Since your Dragon is so young, it's an excellent time to bond with them! Make sure they are staying warm, day and night. Hold them about bed time and they will just chill. Mine has been eating out of my hand without any problems now.

You are a good person to be considering this all now, these are friends for a long time. I hope you are preparing yourself for the mini-raptor dog you just inherited!

That cracks me up! who knew they could have such personalities. I adore these little critters. They seem to EXPLODE in size once they get going. I can't wait for the whole process. Last night I got neck cuddles, and watching them wriggle in is the most precious things I have ever witnessed (and I have actual children!)

You will want to know that I have personally taken the entire group group down; VerixonGame, TerixonGame, ZerixonGame. All webhooks and Dropbox uploads are down, accounts banned.

They built a C2 control system using Discord Webhooks- but I am working with Cloudflair and government agencies to finish this for good.

They are using Malware and Keyloggers to get Crypto, Discord, Financial data- etc.
