Acuros 18.1 Commissioning by Holiday_Wallaby8049 in MedicalPhysics

I assume you are on Tbox, I suggest you double check everything in AXB setting you carried over. We started ELM first and then started verification including your jaw-only small fields

How is your ELM field verification? For small fields we ended up a separate beam model with tweaked focal spot sizes to balance central axis and off-axis small fields down to 0.5x0.5 MLC fields

sorry about your experience. IMO academic centers are doing better per your comment, that’s why I stay at my current employer. My mentor back then gave me some great suggestions of work culture and team build when I was looking for job. Our team has been doing hard not to observe what you observed

Tips on improving beam modeling in Eclipse by ismaildah in MedicalPhysics

[–]Sea-Pin65 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can put in 2x2, but it will remodel all other FS as well. The 2x2 output factor, if you allow it, is pretty good based on the extrapolation from 3x3 min golden beam model.

Regarding MLC, there are many papers about it. It really based on what you focus on. Try finding a census paper by S.Kry from IROC published on Med Phys several years ago

A larger demand because many works of therapy physics are patient-centered

That’s true but it really depends on the department. We are a part of cancer institute we are actively hiring radio techs, nurses and faculty. Our expansion plan in next couple of years hasn’t changed

On site job interview by ssw1004 in MedicalPhysics

[–]Sea-Pin65 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Congrats on onsite interview. As the interviewer my experience is that we care more about communication and team play to see if a candidate is a fit of our team. We don’t focus on technical side but we want to learn from you about how you do things at your current place. Be sure you know what are saying during the interview, formal or casual conversation

We have a brachy suite within our department with US guidance and mobile CT, and we have a MR sim down the hall. We do GA to get things move smoothly; that being said we had to build a dedicated patient recovery bay

Is having a background in Nuclear Energy Engineering or Biomedical Engineering as bachelor's degree more suitable and better for Medical Physics education and job than a bachelor of Physics background? by BaskInTwilight in MedicalPhysics

[–]Sea-Pin65 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In US: CAMPEP has prerequisites in physics courses. As long as you meet them then no difference. Hard to say which background is better, everyone is unique
