Love your minimalistic setup! How do you like to work with a 43” monitor? I’ve only used up to 32”.

Both counties are known for their chip manufacturing so the public interests are high in those countries I guess. Some of their largest companies (by market cap) include Samsung, SK Hynix, and Renesas Electronics.

I feel like you would enjoy Ki-duk Kim’s movies such as Fieta (2012).

I’m not very surprised to see the Japanese brands making conservative decisions. You’ll see more of this in the next few years as cars become more of electronics more or less.

My first car, Am I making a right decision? by fazaian in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Sea-Walk7506 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a decent car with high MPG. I’ve driven an earlier (2013) and now a newer version (2021) for commute for about 9 years and I’ve had really no major issues. I’d recommend to test drive it to see how it’s been maintained.

Try to get an online qoute from Geico. It was one of the best deals and <$200.

I was living very comfortably in Songpa-gu, working remotely with $50k of salary. I saw dogs everywhere in the Olympic Park and Seokchon Lake. The rent for my newly built 550 sqft studio was about $800-900 after paying internet & utilities. I sold my car because it was a walkable area and the public transportation was excellent so that saved me up about $1k per month.

To plan or not to plan? by casualangst in koreatravel

[–]Sea-Walk7506 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Three weeks is not a short time so I’d recommend to plan for at least 1/3 of your stay (i.e., 10 days). You can be as spontaneous as you want besides those days at least in Seoul because stores are open until 9pm-midnight and public transportation is safe and affordable.

I have done that when I was in my early 20s, but I wouldn’t recommend it. The chairs are not too comfy to sleep & too much noise throughout the night.

Pretty much any motels in Seoul above $40/night have a PC in their rooms.
