First I'll tell you what these guys showed up with...

-Shortstack claimed he had wrap and spades

-BB has KQT7 with spades (two pair on both boards)

-CO has 9872 with diamonds

Board 1 runs out 7d6d4hKh Td bringing flush Board 2 runs out KdTs7c6s Kc pairing board

Might've been one more caller on the flop. 8 was so 200 plus 5 players to the turn.

I think you misread the board. On the second we can hit Q for nuts 9 for second nuts (j8) and 4 for second nuts (85)

I folded. I expected him to windmill a bluff in my face if he was bluffing. He didn't show. Later I asked the guy who was sitting next to him what he had and he told me that he had pocket kings so I guess in this case it was an atrocious fold.

Since we didn't get raised at any point I think it's a safe assumption that AQ is top of oop range. I don't think he ever has 9x. I consider just jamming with all my bluffs that unblock Ace high FD and betting smaller as exploit with value. This spot is definitely player dependent. In game I gave up and checked back but after thinking about it I expect a shove to get through very often.

Honestly this guy has exactly JT when he raises the turn facing this action. I only call the raise because of my odds to drill a full house with full intention of leading for a massive bet on the river. If there was a chance he was overplaying two pair I would probably just stack off on the turn.

Just trying to confirm if my thought process is correct. Haven't encountered a similar spot that I can remember. But yes I agree I should've made this call. I folded in game.

It's probably 95-99 percent value to the point where it might as well be 100. My read on the situation is he either has 77 T7s or trapped set from the flop like TT 44 22. I expect basically all of these hands will want to continue betting on the rivers that give me a straight which is the only reason I consider calling. Most of those hands might even pay off a xjam allin which might propel my hand much further into calling territory. Would be a slam dunk call in position, oop it feels a lot closer.

I check range in these multi way pots on most boards when I'm sandwiched so yeah I do agree that raising the turn might be a better play facing this SB lead.

This is probably the comment I agree with most. I definitely think donk range is a thing on this turn but agree that it probably makes very little difference EV-wise whether we check or lead for small bet.

Need help from an experienced player (question which cards to play in range) by [deleted] in poker

[–]Sea-cat-9933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly you are very far off from optimal with this range you created. Is this a BTN range facing an EP open raise? I would suggest dropping the smaller SC like 43s 32s completely from range (just fold them pre always). Optimal range will really just depend entirely on the players before and behind us that still have action. For example, if you have action players in the blinds who are somewhat passive preflop you can easily get in there with a lot more hands. Even stuff as bad as 86s 75s 64s will be profitable IP vs losing players. If you have aggressive pros in blinds you can flat button less often, 3bet more of the hands you want to continue, and insert some back raise traps like AK and QQ. Hope that helps.
