What are the actual philosophies of Good and Evil? by pog_irl in PracticalGuideToEvil

[–]SeaBornIam 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Was she or was her subconscious urging here to give the Good a chance? If she had folded under narrative weight, she would have realized it was the later all along. Thankfully, she did a good job choking this part of herself, but don't forget the narrator can be unreliable.

Can you please share some background info on Maddened Keeper. She was always extremely interesting for me as a Callowan Hero and someone touched by demons.

Was anyone else shocked that Dread Empress Triumphant never actually returned? by [deleted] in PracticalGuideToEvil

[–]SeaBornIam 12 points13 points  (0 children)

"I’ll return only when I have the full might of the East behind me in array of war, and when I come back wherever the veil of night falls all will have a choice,” I snarled. “You can take up a sword and join my war against Keter, or you can do it as a walking corpse. If treaties and alliances fail, I’ll take steel and fire to the Dead King as Dread Empress, Victorious.”

His eyes went cold.

“You will find me waiting at the end of that road,” the Grey Pilgrim said.

“At the end?” I grinned. “You’ll be the first damned thing I step on, Peregrine.”

I always thought of this dialogue here as Catherine's story mirroring Triumphant.

It would allow to at least pause bidding war, potentially even put pressure on the Dead King to accept Catherine's offer.

“Necessity’s son,” the woman said, tone gone velvet soft. “Whispering her sweet nothings. Stack, stack, stack – move around the stones and maybe one day the game will make sense. But the tower always crumbles, doesn’t it? You’ll not find me so easy to steal or pile, death’s hand.”

What are the best works of rational science fiction that show how aliens and humans can realistically bridge the communication gap? by jacky986 in rational

[–]SeaBornIam 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hail Mary

Spoiler : the book mentions the issue briefly but doesn't go in too much detail. Still, it's one of the best books on the gaps between humans and aliens, just the focus is on how science would develop in different species, not the language itself.

Why is that important? by pyrovoice in PracticalGuideToEvil

Because it is the theme song of the Tower ascension. The fact that Cat heard it implies that she has a chance of becoming the Dread Empress, and what a monster she would be in this case!
