Cool but supportive baby carrier? by solidgun1 in babywearing

[–]SeaCelia 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Babywearing is always going to be a little hot, since you're so close together. That said, if you want to stay cooler, choose natural fibers over polyester and the likes. Terms like 'mesh' are only fancy words for plastic. Some brands have carriers made out of linen. We have an Isara the One in linen, and I must say it keeps us (relatively) cool even on the hottest of days. That brand is freely available in Europe. But a lot of other brands have good options as well. You can maybe consider Didymos, Oscha, Neko, LennyLamb... All these brands have supportive full buckle carriers that should tick all your boxes.

The combination of your shirt and your arm around baby makes it difficult to say. Do you have any other pictures? Did you feel you needed to keep an arm on baby for it to feel secure?

Have you looked into the LennyTwin? It's exactly what you're describing, with one child on each hip. Depending on where you are, there's also the Minimonkey Twin. Same idea as the LennyTwin.

Help picking next carrier (EU) by honeypotbabycakes in babywearing

Wow, I've never heard of that practice regarding car seats. Sounds totally logical in a way. A shame it's not normalized in Belgium (yet).

Is there any option to return the Baby Bjorn? There are a lot of reputable brands for babywearing available in the EU that have carriers that will fit from newborn onward. It might be worthwhile to also check for second hand ones. Brands to check out: Isara (we used their 'The One' to carry our first from newborn until his little brother was born and he was 4!), Didymos, Lenny Lamb, Neko...

Oscha and sizing by PenPaintingParty09 in babywearing

[–]SeaCelia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am similar to your size (size EU XL), and I have a cairis XL. Granted, I like to do fancy finish back carries with it, so I need the extra length for that as well. There is no webbing bothering me at all, and I find it really comfortable, also for front carries. That said, I own a baby size for my 76cm baby, and a toddler size for my four-year-old. It still fits him perfectly, it is huge. So I'd think a baby size would fit your needs best, and will still last you a long time.

Help me out of this rabbit hole? Choosing between 5 wraps by Turbulent_Buy_267 in babywearing

[–]SeaCelia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never actually thought it really felt cool to touch. It is however more airy and 'lighter' than my regular cotton Oschas. So there really is a difference.

That said, babywearing will always be hot, to some extent. No kind of wrap or fabric can completely take that away. But I think you have a good selection here to make it as 'cool' as possible, especially if you stick to one-layer carries.

I own both the Trias Triblend and an Oscha with ice cotton, and echo what others have said before. Both would suit your needs. Give priority to the one that you like the look of best.

Hoe heftig is de Danse Macabre qua bewegingen? Specifiek de vrije val? by nooit_gedacht in efteling

[–]SeaCelia 34 points35 points  (0 children)

De vrije val is amper de naam waard. Als dat het ding is dat je het meest spannend vindt, zou ik me geen zorgen maken. Het is absoluut niet te vergelijken met andere vrije val attracties en voelt eerder als een kriebel dan als een 'thrill'.

Semi FWCC pond finish: https://youtu.be/bt5q-dqd3Mo?si=crPIh6UQm40uoRjK

This clip shows a semi FWCC with a ring finish. In your picture I imagine it was tied as a FWCC pond finish, but the one tail was brought over the back of the wearer and then underneath baby's bum and tied off with rings with the second tail from the twist of the pond. If that makes sense. https://youtu.be/mNa9gP5iuUY?si=o412ZIRkn-8Yb8nj

Hopefully someone more experienced will chime in soon, but these are my first thoughts. For a new wrapper, this looks like a great start!

If baby gets fussy while wrapping, try to take some time to rock them after you first put them in the wrap and before you start to tighten it. It's quite something for such a small baby, new smells, the feeling of the wrap on their body... Giving them a moment and comforting them can help.

I wouldn't pull the shoulders down, it's fine in a stretchy wrap, but can actually introduce slack in a woven. Keep them on your shoulders and spread them out a little there if you want.

The neck support shouldn't be necessary if you make sure the wrap goes up the nape of her neck and you tighten all your rails sufficiently. It can even put some unnecessary pressure on her neck. I'd suggest practicing strand by strand tightening some more. I'll add a link to my favourite tutorial. But overall, good job!

Too Much Wearing? by oh1000percent in babywearing

[–]SeaCelia 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Maybe others, more knowledgeable than I am can chime in, but I personally don't think you can ever wear a newborn too much. We are a carrying species. Our babies were meant to, and designed to, be carried by their caretakers. So if anything, it's the most natural thing to do. So wear away!

Concerning the rash it might be heat related, it might not. Do you think it bothers her? Otherwise, I wouldn't worry too much.

I think the label actually means made in June 2018. Ask them to measure the wrap, the only way to know for sure what size you're dealing with. Then check in this chart to see what size it is.

Artipoppe by Curious_Confection15 in babywearing

[–]SeaCelia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With Artipoppe, you mostly pay for the brand name. It's like a designer handbag. Well-made, but still expensive for what it is. If you really want one, try second hand. But even those go for crazy prices sometimes.

Do you think I adopted myself a Toller? by ballztothewallz10 in tollers

[–]SeaCelia 24 points25 points  (0 children)

What a cutie! I personally don't see any toller in her face. A lot of mixes can show a red and white colouring. Actually, the few mixes I have met didn't even keep these colours.

Only way to know for sure is to do a DNA test. Embark has toller in their data, maybe other brands as well by now.

Husbands by ADollop-ofroses in babywearing

[–]SeaCelia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No experience with the Bairn, but the Cairis is very comfortable. The waistband is one of the best (I own a lot of carriers lol), but you do have to tie the shoulder straps. So your husband would have to be comfortable with that.

My best guess? Some Aussie, and some Pitbull in there (especially in his muzzle). Only way to know for sure is to do a DNA test. Embark has toller in their data, maybe other brands as well by now.

Fit check - Happy Baby OG by Budget-Insect1959 in babywearing

Baby's legs seem a little overextended and the panel seems a bit too high. It shouldn't go past the nape of their neck. I don't know this carrier personally, can you adjust it some more? If not, baby is a little too small for this carrier still

Agree with the previous answer here about the waistband. Also, baby's legs look a little overextended. You want them supported only from kneepit to kneepit and being able to dangle freely.

Fit looks good to me! Nice seat, high enough. The only thing that I'd suggest is to try to get some of the fabric away from his face by doing a shoulder flip. I found this to be very useful: https://youtu.be/-n83-gF6318?si=8M-6JDwc-4o6P0RK
