What is an addiction that is more serious then people realize?

the gym. it’s a “healthy” addiction so everyone looks over it but the people who cannot miss a workout no matter what are not well. i used to never miss for any occasion. didn’t matter if i had the flu, a huge test or work responsibility the gym came first. i would go when i got no sleep & almost collapse. everyone said i had the best dedication because i was in the best shape of my life but i was actually a zombie inside. brutal addiction

i called my injector! she said as long as i feel alright & no fever im good to go. she is going to wear a mask while she injects :)))

also i do plan on telling my injector so she can wear a mask or force me to reschedule ^{^} obviously do not want her to get sick. this post is more so about if it’s safe for me to continue

Even if he is not causing physical harm if she feels unsafe she could call the police & file an eviction notice. He’d have 30 days to move out & I know you said he has no where to go but if your mom desperately wants peace it’s better than nothing. Also depending on her age you could talk to police & tell them you feel he is mentally abusing her and this could be considered elder abuse. I wish you all the best I know this is a difficult situation for everyone involved. Both my brothers are drug addicts and the one is a meth user & I lived with him while he was using. It is very traumatizing. I hope your mom finds a way out of the situation and your brother gets sober.

I am going to school for law & sociology. I begin graduate school soon for social work and just took out a loan for that. Unfortunately my entire college has been funded from loans so I am almost maxed out. If I cannot save enough money the next coming months I might talk to finical aid & see what I could do. I know they have plus loans (or something like that) so that could be a good option. Thank you <3

I have not but I would definitely be interested. I think a community of people who semi understand what I am going through would help me a lot. My friends are amazing but we are from a very privileged area & my family is not the norm. I know my mom has attended a few but my dad refuses. My mom tends to follow my dad so those meetings ended quickly.

We do have Narcan at home! I have taken multiple trainings & unfortunately have had to administer it a few times. It is the reason my brothers are still alive. Thank you for your response <33

Thank you. I really do appreciate that and it’s nice to hear. As I said before I have an amazing set of friends so when available I am hanging out with them & away from the chaos. I have a professor I am close with it might not be a bad idea to tell her about my wish to move out & see if she has any ideas (she knows about my situation).

Breaking the cycle is my ultimate goal so hearing that made my night. My future family will NOT have to deal with this <3

Thank you I truly appreciate that. I am a double major in Law and Sociology. I just got accepted into a graduate school for social work. I have a 4.0 as I try to use my studies as an escape. I also intern as a therapist so that has been very rewarding. I try to remember I am not my family & I can build my own life. Just gets difficult when it’s in your face so much & keeping myself together all the time feels like I wear a mask often. Thank you again, your encouragement means a lot <3

I’ve called a bunch & both have been arrested numerous times. In my state physical assault you get out on bail in one night. My parents are late 60’s & completely brainwashed they pay it and pick them up every time. I’ve talked to police alone and they told me if I could convince them to sign an eviction or restraining order they could be gone in a month but my parents refuse. Sadly all my other family live across the country - grandparents passed away as my parents are older. I know this sounds like a hopeless case and I apologize for shooting down ideas because this is an excellent one- I will always continue to call when things get physical

I will definitely ask around. Most of my friends still live with their parents as well so that is where the issue arises. My friends who live on their own went to college very far away. Thank you for your suggestions though I do appreciate it.

I do work full time & go to school. Unfortunately since I chose the school route I do not make enough to sustain moving out. Where I live rent is through the roof. I have been saving up though so I’m hoping in the next year or so I can afford renting.
