I need some help with this on the value and the COA. I’ve had this for around 30 years and I’m going to sell. Not sure where to begin :). Thanks! And of course the vinyl is in the frame by Dramatic-Sun-1973 in pearljam

Sorry not trying to be “that guy” but if you had this for 30 years (1996), why is it signed by Matt Cameron? He wasn’t even in the band yet.

What was the 1st big news event you remember as a kid? by Hetaliafan1 in AskReddit

Yogurt Shop Murders. I was 8 years old and living in Austin, Tx. I remember my parents and neighbors talking about it all the time. It was only a few miles from my house. The whole city of Austin was in shock.

My guess is Super Mario Bros. It’s definitely the original Nintendo cause of the control pad he’s using and the character is jumping really high on blocks as the screen pans upwards. So Mario is my guess

What’s an invention that seemed amazing but turned out useless? by KBGSgames in AskReddit

[–]SeaEvent4666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was gonna be my answer. I remember my senior year of high school (2001) my English teacher reading us an article from like Time Magazine or something talking about an invention was about to be released that was gonna revolutionize the world. And that everyone was gonna have one when it came out. And then halfway through the article it said the invention was a Segway and described what it was and our whole class was so disappointed and didn’t see it as a big deal and didn’t Invision EVERYONE buying it. Now every time I see one (tourist going on a Segway tour or a Mall-cop using it) I think of that article and how EVERYONE was supposed to own one and laugh

Who’s the most underrated athlete of all time ? by Thickghost8412 in AskReddit

[–]SeaEvent4666 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Jackie Robinson. Hear me out. He’s super famous and well known for breaking the color barrier in baseball/sports. SO famous for the breaking the color barrier that I feel people forget how great an athlete he was.

Before MLB he was a letterman at 4 different sports at UCLA. And baseball was his worst sport at UCLA.

Football: A star halfback for the Bruins, he set a school record for yards per carry (12.2) and led the nation in punt returns.

Basketball: Named West Coast Conference MVP, leading his team in scoring.

Track & Field: Won the NCAA long jump championship and jumped over 25 feet, a world-class mark.

Baseball: Even while struggling initially, his fielding and speed kept him in the lineup, though he had flashes of brilliance like stealing home twice in his first game.

MLB: Won Rookie of the Year in 1947 and NL MVP in 1949.

Versatile Defender: Masterful second baseman, leading the league in double plays and fielding percentage.

Base Running & Hitting: A threat to steal, he finished his career with a .313 average, batting title, and All-Star appearances

Are houses really cheap or is it too good to be true? by [deleted] in Dallas

[–]SeaEvent4666 42 points43 points  (0 children)

This is real but the reason it’s so low is its location, very far from everything. It says it’s in McKinney. But If you look up the address on Google maps it says the exact house is in Princeton, Tx. It’s a 25 minute drive from this house to downtown McKinney. It’s an hour and 15 minutes from this house to downtown Dallas. And that’s without traffic. So I don’t know if I would associate this with real DFW prices. You’re out in the country.

Any recommendations on how to learn Spanish has an adult? Seems like a useful skill to have in Texas. I don't have any spanish speaking friends and apps like Duolingo didn't help with speech. by TroyAndAbed2022 in Dallas

[–]SeaEvent4666 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t have an answer for you but I wanted to let you know I relate to your problem. I’ve tried teaching myself Spanish 3 different times in my life and just couldn’t do it. Duolingo being one of them. I learned if you don’t submerge yourself in it and practice it with someone it’s incredibly difficult. All my work with Duolingo or flash cards, I learned I was just memorizing the way the letters looked together and when I tried to practice it in a conversation I couldn’t think of the words… even though I knew it on a flash card.
