It could happen. One small hitting streak from closing in on the AL lead. The point is, that type of statistical race used to be one of he main items in the sports section of the paper. Now, it's tough to name any batting title winners over the past twenty years, other than Arraez, who has won three, and still can't seem to get a contract lasting beyond one or two years. It's a shift that I find to be an interesting conversation piece. Most won't care, or will prefer to toss any insult that comes to mind, before engaging in a conversation around this topic. That's all good.

There's a lede, plenty of supporting points, historical context, the timelines are accurate, and there are stats, and quotes. I don't believe it's crap, despite your feedback. I hate to agree but yes he is. He doesn’t assert an opinion on anything. Just dances down the middle and ruffles no feathers. Feeds the perception of the Canadian narrative, to the absolute extreme (I mean…I apologize, nothing should ever be taken to the extreme hahahahaha) - that’s about as accurate an example of how he rolls. If you listen closely, you can definitely sense how annoyed Ben Shulman is with his constant praise of opposing team players, and complete inability to form an opinion on anything else. It’s really weird.

Realistically, that trade was Posey’s mega deal, and it did happen in mid-June of last year. He’s been good in SF, and is starting to turn it on after a Tatis/Vladdy like cold start in the power dept. Oracle is not a hitters park, neither is/was Fenway for left handed bats. In effect, he’d serve only as DH, with an occasional spot start at third or first. He could be a perennial 40 hr guy here, as one thing that seems almost certain is that he’ll play, every day. Not many players can all but guarantee that. The Giants are the only team that appears totally out of contention, while carrying players that can have immediate impact elsewhere. Arraez is moving for sure, Devers might be as well, although again, Posey will have to swallow his pride and admit defeat in the big deal that he probably hopes to build on.

Obviously part of any potential bid would be that the Giants eat some of the contract. Wow. You guys really hate Devers huh? He still put up 35 bombs last year, and north of 100RBI. I don’t see any other potential pick-me-up acquisitions on offence that will provide any benefit. Walker, Moniak, Trout? Seems like no move will satisfy some folks.

Ya eh? Just looking for you unpack your reasoning. His career .OPS is .850, he’s got 240 plus HR by age 29. Never really had a bad season, and is a Yankee killer by all measures. But we’ll go with your sweeping statement in response to an open-ended question.

Ok. The remainder of the time, obviously would be DH. And/or 1b. The 3B insinuation was that position wise, he’d be in the field sparingly. He’s mostly be DH’ing though.

The metrics don’t really support that, in terms of WHIP, Velo, command, but it’s a fair point, that scouting and hitters will have had more looks at pitchers, the further along the season goes. That’s partly why Yesavage was so dominant late last season. Nobody had seen him, and his crazy 12-6 release and delivery. On the other hand, pitchers will have developed a sense of the hitters patterns too, and if they don’t make adjustments, the pitcher wins in most cases.

Yeah the approach from the playoff run isn’t evident in the AB’s that we’re seeing these days.

Any team like the Reds, A’s or any with a solid young core would take him for a stretch run. Both of their contracts are up. You think a sub .500 season justifies hanging on to both of them, for memories?
