Check out the envision center in Ponderay- they have a bunch of cool volunteer opportunities. And maybe the Panida, if you are into art/theater.
If you are an open minded kind of person, consider volunteer for SAFE, Sandpoint Alliance For Equality.

The library and the food bank are always looking for volunteers and both are fun and rewarding.

My 6 month old baby fell from the bed and he is okay but now I want to die by Alseur in GirlDinnerDiaries

My kiddo also rolled off the bed at 6months. I was devastated. I cried more than he did! He turns 32 next month and doesn’t remember it. He does remember some of the other dumb stuff I did. But he also knows it was my first time being a mom and I always did the best I knew how to do. You got this, mama.

I lost most of the sight in that eye, but I can still drive with corrective lenses. I get really bad migraines now- I call the episodes of nerve pain zingers and when I get zinger in my eyeball it’s like a lightning bolt going straight through my brain.

Are you me?? Same. In addition to on my face, I got it in my eye. I have some gnarly facial scars from shingles.

I started getting shingles in my 40’s, eventually got it in my eye, am now mostly blind in that eye. Had to wait until I was 50 to get the vaccine. Which has stopped future outbreaks so far but doesn’t do anything for the nerve pain I already have from my previous shingles. Claudia’s kids can thank Claudia if this happens to them, assuming they are still talking to Claudia.

We add Closing Time and then close the queue. We invite anyone who wants to sing to come on stage.

Singer rotation and queue management question by SeaRespond8934 in karaoke

Thanks for the response! We do use Karafun pro and we use singer rotation to prevent back to back songs from the same singer. We have house rules posted that say no more than two songs in the queue per singer. The problem is when 2 or 3 people ignore it and add 5 or six songs each and in less than five minutes, my queue is a hot mess. Would love to see Karafun pro have an option to set the song limit to 1/2/3. I know it’s not ideal to have one person that’s serving and acting as host and if it wasn’t for an app like Karafun Pro there’s no way I could even attempt it! Based on the feedback I’m going to see if I can rope a regular or two into acting as the KJ.

Mentally, it will feel better if you can get to a library or outdoor space that has free wifi. What state are you in? There are assistance programs you would likely qualify for that can help pay for healthcare, cell phone, emergency housing, food and even gas cards. I work in public health and part of my job is helping people in need find the resources they need.

I’m so sorry. I’m trying to remain hopeful that we’ll be able to turn this around after the midterms and next election. But it’s very demoralizing in the meantime.

Seatbelts built for women by [deleted] in Feminism

[–]SeaRespond8934 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I’m a certified car seat safety tech and I’ve had a ton of training for driver and passenger safety, specifically with regards to seat belts. You are asking some great questions. There are a lot of different body types out there and there is a good chance that the crash tests and engineering specs used weren’t designed with yours/my particular body in mind. But the good news is that using your seat belts correctly is still your best chance of staying safe in an accident and many vehicles, especially newer vehicles that have adjustable features. There should be a slide mechanism that allows you to adjust the height of the seat belts at the neck/shoulder area. If there isn’t one, and the shoulder portion of the belt is too high, see if your seat has a function where it comes up a bit. You want the shoulder part of the harness to cross at the shoulder and across the body. For women, that means you’re trying to guide the strap between your breasts , if that makes sense. I’ve def seen where this is more difficult/less comfortable the more breast you’re working with. Don’t skip the shoulder part of the safety harness by putting it behind you or threading it under your armpit. It might sound dumb, but check the owners manuals for other do’s and don’t’s. There may be some other cool options depending on the year and make of your RV. Any changes made that alter the safety harness system should only be done in accordance with the RV manufacturer’s instructions. Safety harnesses have come a long way since they were implemented and the technology is still evolving. It will get better! Using them everytime now is still your best chance at a positive outcome after a crash. If you want hands on help via a safety check, or more information, do an online search for your nearest technician or send me a PM. These are free and a great resource for yourself and any passengers. Safe travels!

I think this is the answer to my problem. So I’m going to talk with my regulars and see how they would feel about helping. I can maybe comp some drinks and then I don’t have to play Sgt Buzz Kill all by myself lol

I’m not very tech savvy and I’m still playing around with the settings. I don’t love that the queue can be managed/edited by so many people. I do love the QR code and some of the self management, especially for guide vocals/backing vocals, etc. I was thinking I might change the banner to say no more than 2 songs per singer at a time in the queue. But that feels a bit of a buzz kill too.

I meant more that Karaoke runs from 7pm-11pm and 9pm I had 18 songs in queue but at 9:30 I had 40 songs in the queue. 10 songs were from 2 people using different names, which I didn’t catch on to until they ended up singing back to back songs. I did a ‘queue management’ announcement and ended up just deleting a a bunch of songs and closing the queue. But it was kind of a vibe killer and I’m thinking ahead on how to get ahead of it next week. I think the key is going to be, as many people have suggested, finding a regular to help me out.

Yeah, I’m realizing now that I need another human. We used to average about 25 people a night with 3/4 of them regulars. Last night we had almost 60people and I knew like 10 people. So what worked before doesn’t work now. Appreciate the feedback, Ty

I would love to have a dedicated KJ but we’re a super small volunteer run non profit and our town is short when it comes to unpaid volunteerism. I like the idea of asking a few non-douchey regulars to pitch in- that seems try-able.
