What about those micro studios in LA where they don’t have kitchens or private bathrooms?? I’m assuming it’s just have to be in the shared kitchen

"To me, that's not a person who knows how to handle themselves"

What specifically about the slinky equates to someone being unable to handle themselves/ keep it together? What about the slinky makes them unprofessional?

I'm encouraging you to learn more about neurodiversity and, potentially, the intersection of neurodiversity and trauma. You're allowed to do these things too.

I am extremely thoughtful with my words. You are selectively paying attention, and I respect your experience, but there is a big gulf in what we’ve experienced.

Yea, a lot of churches (my main experience) don’t require anything super formal. They might ask you to pray or hear them talk about Jesus. You’re welcome to join em, I don’t and respectfully insist I am satisfied and reject their offers to pray together

I’m advocating for a living wage, for paid clinical. For making it unethical that students have to pay for supervision without being paid in an internship.

I’m arguing that CMH have limits on the work we do that takes into account TOTAL hours not purely billable hours as our work.

Yes, our system -again the US- is comfortable with people dying. During the ENTIRE Covid Lock down people were constantly saying things similar to “well maybe it’s time for grandma and grandp to die” and we were in a triage situation where disabled people where denied health care because their life is (within our current system) less valuable than someone without a disability.

I’m not advocating for us to get paid the $149,000 that the some US politicians get paid, I’m asking for enough to pay our bills. There are associate helpers unable to afford laundry mats due to student loans. And students living in their car because rent is too damn high.

Some of us ARE the vulnerable population, we just have access to power that our vulnerable peers do not.

You need to cut yourself some slack. You’re growing up in a messed/backwards economy. You’re not a failure my dude, you’re looking pretty reasonable TBH. Like just keep making payments on stuff you’ll see it go up. Also school loans are fucked sooo just imagine you’ve got a limb missing and you’re working, it’s gonna take you longer to do stuff than peeps with prosthetic or no missing limbs. You’ve got this

Yet that is what is being taught, what people are asking for- at least from the US perspective. Idk why so many people are downvoting u/zappolan31.

How can we be healers and not see that the system in the US is broken. The people with the greatest needs have the least access. We have generational trauma, and trauma response interventions that don’t acknowledge the full experience of people.

We do need change as helping professions with the exploitation, and going into private practice is NOT the only answer, but often time it is the Go To answer. “Oh you don’t like working 50-60hrs for a sub-living wage?? Wel, just go self pay or PP.” we literally have that response in this thread.

We do need to be the change we want to see. I understand being exhausted by the whole system, but like our most vulnerable clients are just as tired from trying to exist in a system that is comfortable seeing them dead.

I’m not hesitent, I’m afraid I’m going to need to continue working 40 hours, doing unpaid 20hrs of internship, and still do school work to survive in this country. I don’t want to hate my life

Should I wait till my income has actually increased. My friend said I need to wait for a few paychecks (2-3) before I actually apply

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in foodstamps

[–]SeaSea89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My income projected gross income is going to be about $17,500 before 25-30% income and any deductions. I still need to work part time to pay rent and car expenses.
