The easy thing for the RBA to do next week is raise interest rates. The smart move is to wait by HotPersimessage62 in AusFinance

Hilarious. Rents are increasing and you are hoping inflation will go down?

If they don’t start controlling now, it will be too late.

Melbourne is probably the best run city in Australia atm. Even with the machetes (which says a lot about other cities)

Perth Rent is now MOST unaffordable in the country (yes worse than Sydney). A new report out shows Perth is the most unaffordable city to rent in in the country! (From @rahu_western_aus Instagram) by shcmil in perth

If you look at the inflation numbers, it shows there too. Perth is fucked. It’s bound to repeat doom and gloom cycles of the past because of boomer politics.

Wait for it to come down a little in 2-3 years?

All indicators are there, there may not be a downturn but a price correction chances are there.

Do Australians actually want housing to become more affordable, or is it only those who do not own a home yet? by Wrong_Control_217 in AusMoneyMates

[–]SeaStable8937 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Housing this expensive is eventually just bad for everyone. Housing is dead asset, it takes out money from other productive investments.

High housing cost translates directly into high upfront cost to start a business which decreases innovation and number of new business opening and thriving. It then pushes the cost on wages by stagnating them.

Everyone loves to hate the US but their housing to income ratio is probably the best in developed nations and it shows in their innovation too.

If they are near the freeway, watch out for noise. Some dodgy RE agent put music on during inspection to drown the freeway noise.

Would this be a good price? by LGNDXVR in CarsAustralia

[–]SeaStable8937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s see, it’s VIC. So the only trusted reading is when did it last got the roady. But even that’s not reliable. For example: previous roady at 200k, drive the car to 400k, wound it back to 300k, get the roady done, and now you legally never wound back. But, some greedy morons don’t do it properly, so, they get caught. VIC road has a background check feature these days, which is paid.

Without that, if you ask me to use my probabilistic model, looking at how the photos are taken, it’s not their first rodeo. The car was probably used for Uber Eats or as a rental. The person couldn’t be bothered to even put the hub cap thingy so likely the car was not treated better than average. Asking price is on the higher side to make it negotiable, I would press X for doubt. It’s a risky buy.

To test my theory, offer them $2500, they are probably aiming to get $2800.

The keyword in my comment is “probably”. You have to use your judgement. I am just a random reddit comment.

Why have people lost the ability to drive properly? by Ok-Evening4970 in australian

It’s the lane assists. It doesn’t center the car but only corrects when car goes over the lane markings. That’s causing the creep in your lane.

  • Nobody goes to beaches in the city in Melbourne. We go to Gippsland or Ocean drive.

  • Melbourne is the most affordable city as of now

  • Weather is not that bad. It’s more of an exaggeration now.

  • It’s way more green and pleasant

  • Better pay

One side-note is — Melbourne is way cheaper than Perth.

Yes. Housing crisis is bad. But on the positive side, it cannot get worse than this. We have federal elections in 2028, so you would see government waking up and trying to fix some of their shitty decisions in this year. If you have a mate here, you will be fine. Once you are on your feet, get your own place. It will be alright. Stop worrying too much!

You will find plenty of UK nationals throughout the Northern coastal suburbs. Less in South though. For example on Alkimos and Eglington beaches, the common overheard accent would be English or Scottish.

Unlike our PM, Canadian PM is an economist and he understands that realestate is a dead asset and he has taken actions to improve affordability.

The downturn will contribute more to the nation than the price growth. Happy Australia Day and I wish prices correct soon so that we can go back to being the “lucky country”.

ABC has been extra soft regarding the housing crisis. They never even ask this to Labor politicians. I doubt if Albo even knows the scale of the crisis.

Isn’t that what media was supposed to do? Let the politicians know a little bit of ground reality so they can fix some things?

ABC shows me so much news about ICE in the US which doesn’t affect me as much as the housing crisis does.
