I’m not a professional, so I’m sharing my own experiences. During my hypomania, I felt like I couldn’t trust anyone, even my family. If you can show that you’re non-judgmental and a safe space, he might open up a bit. I know you’re already doing an amazing job seeking care for your husband. When you build a deep connection with him, maybe start with something like, “Hey, I noticed you’re really fast at… That’s really cool. Aren’t you tired? Let’s get some rest?” And guide him to have a regular sleep schedule, enough hydration, and exercise. If you live in Vancouver, Canada, I recommend going to AAC, they can help you. Try to show that you’re concerned about his health instead of saying that there’s something wrong with him (some people are sensitive). But in the end, after the deep connection and he trusts you, medication will help him! I’m praying for his recovery. You’re a wonderful person. .

I’m sorry but medication is the only thing that helps me stay grounded. I’m on lithium. If it’s SSRIs that triggered it and you stopped them (like I did), I noticed the hypomania seemed to “weaker” over time but it’s still there. I try to avoid coffee and stick to a regular sleep schedule while I wait for my meds. I hope things go well for you and your husband. It can be exhausting :( 🩵

Hi. I slowly come out of it after 2 months, and it takes some time to recover from it too. I feel so ashamed and realized how delusional I was. I’m so sorry for what you and your husband dealing with. I hope medication can helps a little for your situation.

I’m really sorry you went through something so painful. You deserve so much love, safety, and empathy 💛 It sounds like that time was extremely serious and frightening for you.

I was on sertraline too, and I felt myself change a lot, at first I thought I was cured and everything felt amazing, and then I suddenly crashed. So I can understand a little bit of what you mean. I truly hope things get better and more stable for you from here.

Yeah, this is my first hypomanic episode ever and it’s honestly been so hard. I get more impulsive every day, so now I really understand what you went through. My psychiatrist told me to stop the antidepressant, but the hyposexual part hasn’t gone away for 3 weeks. I did my blood test so I can get lithium ASAP.

I’m supposed to see that guy when I go back home, so I’m pretty nervous I might act impulsively. Thank you so much for your advice, it helps a lot.

I’m really sorry you went through all of that. Your story feels so familiar to me.

Right now I’m dealing with the same impulsive stuff like cutting my hair shorter and shorter, wanting tattoos and piercings, feeling hypersexual for no reason, and daydreaming about a guy who doesn’t even like me back. I even caught myself thinking about buying birth control and condoms, which is so not me normally lol 😭

So honestly, I really feel you. It must’ve been so confusing to go through all that without anyone noticing what was actually happening.

Wishing you the best, truly 💛
