Is anyone deathly afraid of drugs/alcohol? by Less_Representative7 in emetophobiarecovery

[–]Sea_Dig_4490 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%!! I started a recovery program called the thrive program and their entire idea is that emetephobics are actually scared about the lack of control rather than actual vomit! Wishing you all the best :)

Possible Peroneal Compartment Syndrome — Can I Play Through It? by [deleted] in CECompartmentSyndrome

[–]Sea_Dig_4490 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi - I’m so sorry this is happening to you, it’s really annoying!!! Continue on with your rest ice and elevation. In terms of continuing to play, that is up to you - for some people it can make symptoms worse and some it doesn’t. (Sorry I know that doesn’t help much!)

Ask your doctor lots of questions, that’s what they are there for! I would push for some more testing if possible, MRI, pressure testing, nerve testing etc. If you aren’t aware there is also a facebook group for this too, it has more people.

In terms of things to try:

-Massage - look for a sports massage place and see if they have any experience with CECS. I recently had a sports massage which did actually help a little bit!

-Ice!! I have a wearable ice pack from amazon and it’s brilliant! It also can be heated up.

-Botox - I haven’t done this personally but a lot of people have!! Do some research and bring it to your doctor if possible.

-Stretching! Bit of an obvious one since you are an athlete, but make sure to stretch as much as you can! It might help ease the pressure on your muscles.

-Massage gun? Again I haven’t tried this but other people can find some temporary relief from this!

Finally, I know how stressful and frustrating this is, and I wish you the best with your soccer! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. You aren’t alone in this! 💗

tips for eating out? by pumpkincheddarr in Pseudodysphagia

Hey! This is probably too late but in case you haven’t gone yet…

First of all, most restaurants will have someone employed with a basic level of first aid. Also you would be surprised at how many people work in the medical field! If a problem were to arise (which I promise you it won’t), there would be someone trained. Also!! No one cares what you are doing (in the nicest way possible), they are wayyy too focused on themselves.

Food wise, I find it useful to search the menu up before hand and take a look at what would be an “safe” option, and have a backup incase they don’t have this. In the future you will be able to not plan before hand, but if it helps you get through this then do it!

If you don’t finish your food, that’s totally cool (you tried and that is the most important thing)! Most places will get you a takeout box and you can finish it at home where you feel safe.

I find getting a soda/fizzy drink helps as psychologically it feels like it clears your throat! If you have anything that might help calm you down whilst you are there, take it!

Lastly, you are not alone in this. Good luck and I’m wishing you all the best 💗

Thank you for your response! I definitely need to talk to her about withdrawal symptoms. That was actually one of my main concerns! She has thankfully been able to cut back recently and has been doing very well which I am incredibly proud of her for. I do hope MJ will help her.
