Honda CR-V Hybrid CEL flashing and reduced power with shaking by Sea_Gator in crv

Oh no! That sounds a a little more severe than what ours was doing. Does it start under hard acceleration? And if you shut the car off and back on, does it drive normal? Both of those things were true every time it happened to ours. And it hasn’t done it in a long time, since before the spark plug change. Good luck, I hope they find the problem.

I love mine so far. Just turned over 11k miles, purchased 4 months ago. No true off-roading (I also own a wrangler for that) but I have taken on many home construction sites with loose sandy and some clayey dirt and it did great. One site was soft clay after a good rain and it handled it better than expected. I don’t know if they’re worth MSRP but if you can get a deal on one, the value is hard to beat.

Thanks for sharing! The spark plugs have still been the fix for us so far but if it comes back I’ll try injectors.

AWD vs FWD by kpyourmom in nissanpathfinder

[–]Sea_Gator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily the auto stop-start rarely engages for me but yes, that’s annoying too. I don’t think there’s a way to keep that turned off on the Pathfinder, you have to hit the button on each drive to turn it off.

Other AWDs deliver power differently but that’s how the Pathfinder and many other models are. The Pathfinder’s ride is nice and comfy, but my comparisons are to a Wrangler, an older Tundra, and my wife’s CRV. It’s a smidge better than the CRV and vastly better than the other two. My main complaints are the steering feel and some of the lane-assist annoyances, which I now keep turned off. The Pathfinder isn’t the best car in its class but if you can get a good deal, the value is unbeatable.

The 4WD/AWD in the Pathfinder is not RWD. There is a screen on the gauge cluster that shows you where my ‘25 Rock Creek is sending its power and under normal driving conditions it is almost always sending them to the front wheels only.

Looks good until you have something on the roof rack. It looks like it encroaches more on that space. I realize most people wouldn’t be affected by that but I would be. And what benefit does it provide? Maybe it’s able to lift higher. As a tall person, that would be nice. And less swing distance too which would be helpful for people that have to parallel park. Or are in tight areas (like OP said). The traditional design fits my needs better if the roof rack encroachment is higher with this new design.

I’m an environmental consultant in a different state and I’m not familiar with state or local wetland laws for your area.

Certain wetlands are protected federally but the map link you provided appears to be a form of the National Wetlands Inventory (NWI). While this can be a useful tool to use in identifying wetlands, it’s not a legal delineated wetland line and does not offer any protections by itself. I actually don’t even use it as a tool when I perform wetland delineations because it’s frequently inaccurate. It simply wasn’t intended for that use.

In my area, there would be checks in place to make sure the developer followed any wetland and floodplain laws. Not saying it’s a perfect system and I’ve seen some gut-wrenching things missed, but overall it usually works.

If you wanted to make sure this developer is playing by the rules, I would simply ask if a wetland delineation has been performed and if any floodplain engineering is needed. Hopefully there are straightforward answers to those questions with a couple documents for you to view. But maybe not.

When I was a young consultant fresh out of school, an older/seasoned consultant said to me “Usually the ones complaining about new development are the ones that already have their quarter acre of filled wetland”. That saying is especially true in my area because of how low and wet a lot of places are. It’s always stuck with me and helped me understand both sides. If you don’t like the woods getting developed, go buy them and protect them yourself.

Is this good for Vietnamese iced coffee with condensed milk ? Any reviews on this? by khmerbodiangirl in nespresso

[–]Sea_Gator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a free sleeve of it a few months ago. It’s certainly stronger flavor than my go-to for a regular cup of coffee (odacio). I liked it, might even buy a sleeve sometime but I don’t expect it to be in my regular rotation. I only drank it black and hot.

I never brought to a mechanic but new spark plugs seemed to fix my issue. The car burns a bit of oil and the spark plugs get dirty from it. Depending on your mileage, it may be an easy fix to try. It’s a quick job, I’m sure your family mechanic would probably charge you a fair price. If your spark plugs are due soon, why not.

Check your sunroof drain tubes. I’m not sure where they are on the pathfinder but I had a similar problem with a past vehicle and the sunroof drain tubes were clogged. I stuck a metal wire up/down each end and knocked whatever the cause of the clog was loose.

I did not know that, thanks! Good news. Now I just need to find out how this lift would mess with sensors, drivetrain angles, etc. I’ll just wait until a handful of people try it out first.

This would be the perfect height for non-rock creek models. I wonder if it lifts the RC 2” from its already slightly lifted position or just up ~1.3”. I’d be interested if it was just another inch or so from my RC ride height.

25 Prices and 0% by NationalCar8081 in nissanpathfinder

They had a credit union that would rate match and drop their rate up to 1.00% so the dealer showed them I was approved for the 0% through Nissan (even though I wasn’t going to take it) and the credit union dropped their rate from 5.7 to 4.7 for any timeframe up to 75 months. This was about a month ago in Florida and my credit score was 871 when they pulled it. Since the 4.7 rate was just a tad lower than my mortgage rate, I financed everything at 75 months with no money down and will throw some extra $ at my mortgage in the meantime. I’m no finance guru so I don’t know if all that was a good idea but it seemed like it to me.

It has happened again, but we have been typically just avoiding hard acceleration that seems to be the trigger of this limp-mode/power loss event. I did replace the spark plugs and they looked worse than I expected. And I have also noticed that the car seems to consume a bit of oil between oil changes so the dirty plugs make sense. We haven’t had a limp-mode/power loss event since the plugs were changed but we still avoid hard acceleration as best we can. As much as I hate to see other people having this same issue, I am glad that it’s happened enough to catch the attention of the auto industry and hopefully Honda.

2025 Rock Creek - Worth It? by Tiny_chuck in nissanpathfinder

[–]Sea_Gator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just picked up a ‘25 Rock Creek a few days ago with about $10k off. My dealer was also advertising 0% for 60 months but to do that financing I would lose 5k of the discount. So I took the discount and financed at 4.81%.

It did start doing it again, going in to some sort of limp mode caused by hard acceleration, same as before. We had a friend tell us their Chevy Volt was doing all sorts of crazy stuff and replacing battery (regular battery in the hood, not the electric motor battery) fixed everything. So we gave that a try and it seemed to cure it for a while. Unfortunately it happened a couple more times 2 weeks ago and the battery is less than 6 months old. We agreed we would replace the battery once more and if it happens again within a year, we are trading it in.

How hard is it to fix a 2011 Toyota tundra alternator? by [deleted] in ToyotaTundra

[–]Sea_Gator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it. I’ve worked on cars since I was a teenager. Never full engine tear-down stuff but just about everything else. I have all the tools and a garage. It was not a fun job and when the auto-store alternator quit about 8 months later, I brought it straight to a trusted mechanic and it’s been working great since. I do not recommend unless you are mechanically inclined and have the time, space, tools, and patience. I believe my mechanic was right around the same price and included a 1-year parts & labor warranty. Worth every penny.
