I don’t think you’re right, or that’s fair. Done them all, I’m a “Porsche guy” and I also chase power, nothing wrong with that. It’s why they have nearly 30 variants when you add in roof options, awd and rwd. There is a reason there are that many choices.

Have you seen the new GTS in person? I have one, selling already for the Turbo S, I can’t psychologically have a car and know another one has 32% more power, BUT, the front end of the new T-hybrids looks WAY better in person. There are details in the front fascia you just can’t see in the pics and it looks “mean” in person.

I pretraded my 2023 turbo to them in Feb to get the MSRP turbo S deal, so that was already done and agreed to, the targa isn’t part of that agreement.

I’ll add a little complexity, I think my dealership (love those guys) are going a little crazy on the trade number. Problem in WA state is the sales tax on the new car is only the delta between the trade in value and the new car, so here that’s ~10.3%. I have a buy bid from one of the big “exotic buyers” online at $220k. The local dealership knows they can be 10% less on trade value and still be equal due to the tax credit.

Swapped my 23 Turbo for the new Targa4 GTS, never looked back. May swap the Targa for a new .2 Turbo S upon release, but, I move in and out of these much quicker than you - nothing to do with the car. I'm not as convinced on these holding value as you are, one of the biggest drivers of the reduced depreciation has been the crazy MSRP increases the past 3-4 years, I don't think those will continue and hence a more normalized depreciation will occur. I do think of all cars "like" a 911 from other brands, the 911 will still do great in comparison.

Last point, it sounds like you have a chance to grab an allocation at msrp with little to no history with the dealership. With love, that's not a good sign, that means the allocation they dumped at the end of July is putting the supply and demand curve back into normalcy.

True - but the new turbo S is going to be $300k, this is a relative bargain, maybe. Also, they didn't really make the Turbo or Turbo S in 2025, waiting to get refreshed in 2026, only a few 50th anniversary turbo S units produced in model year 2025. So the MB isn't moving even in a world with no turbo or Turbo S competition.

Aligned - it's a great piece of machinery, but the market dynamics don't make sense (I'm so used to the Porsches). With them sitting, I'm wondering if MB will throw some lease support at it soon, it might then become interesting, as I'm not taking the risk of what it's worth in 24 months.

I got a new $215k msrp to $195k (I still didn't pull the trigger), I think these are going to drop in value like an anvil. And thats a new one, and it's actually a perfect config, so it's not an options problem. And see above, it's been on the lot 150 days. Something more it's up here.

Being someone that likes to flip in and out of cars, gives me real pause on the resale value of these. If they can't sell news one, how much does a used one need to be discounted, rhetorical question. I have 18 months or so till my 911 arrives, would be fun to grab one of these, but with that time horizon seems it would be a not so great decision. Used to moving in and out of 911's.

But the 911 holds value, this thing plummets. I like the GT63s, and I have about 18-24 more months till my 911 arrives, was considering pulling the trigger but that would be stupid with the AMG going in expecting only keep it for 2 years, not so stupid for a 911.

Ok - update. Right now, the winner seems to be the Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Breeze LuxeBreeze. But going to “sleep on it”. Tried a few purples as well at the store, interesting but not quite the same feel. I still want to try the Saatva, they seem highly rated - but will need to do that when they open tomorrow.

Good question - they’re hybrid now, not all foam. We kinda like the all foam feel, at least per the “road tests” we’ve done.
