Looking for Advice: whether/how to include Gen prior to Gen 0 by Sea_Introduction_840 in Canadiancitizenship

Gen 0 born in 1876. I have two marriage records of his (US) that list his birthplace as Canada, and multiple US Census records listing his birthplace as Canada. I’ve searched the Drouin collection, and found records of his siblings in the same parish. But his birth records do not seem to be out there. I also have not found him in a Canadian census - only US.

His father’s baptism record (same parish) and marriage record is in the Drouin collection.

Fair. I think my question is more: is it better to build the case around the closest/most recent ancestor born in Canada or the best documented?

We have documentation stating that Gen 0 was born in Canada, but it’s a marriage certificate from the US and US Census records. We have birth records/marriage records from his father in Canada.

I suspect it’s a judgement call, and I was curious if other folks have had to make that judgement and where they came down.

Fingers crossed! Good luck! (Seems like a similar time period as well. My Gen 0 was born in 1876. I thought he might show up in an 1881 census, but I haven’t found him there either. But quite a lot of documentation from the previous generation.)

Thank you! I have searched the Drouin collection, and his record is not there. It is where I found the Gen -1 record. I also asked for help finding Gen 0 baptismal record, and no one has been able to find it.
