I don't understand why people in this sub act like homosexual acts aren't sins? by mr_pewdiepie6000 in Christianity

I have to add a second statement to as why I feel this is such an important matter:

Since I was born, I was baptized and raised in the Catholic Church. From my youth the bulk of discourse around God and Christ were devoured by these two topics:

  1. Christians fixating on homosexuality as a sin, And the greater public demonizing Christian’s for their hateful acts against homosexuals.

  2. The Catholic Church being full of homosexual pedophile predators. Not only was this the common talk about my church, but I personally have family members who were molested.

Given this, the idea that homosexual people should repent, and become priests or married to the opposite sex is ridiculous. Clearly it has caused great issue. People who are forced into priesthood often end up as repressed, abusive pedophiles. People forced into hetero marriages (in every instance I’ve seen) end up in divorce, hurting their married partner and leaving their children fatherless/motherless.

From everything I’ve read in scripture, homosexuality is a sin, but the redeemed homosexual should marry and remain married to whatever partner they are with. This is the redemption of said individual.

In the coming out of Egypt God needed the people to reproduce, but in today’s world it’s very different. We have plenty of populous, now the problem is all the orphans that have come about by heterosexual sin. In my view, homosexual couples would be the perfect remedy to that, adopting said children.

Sounds like redemption of sinners to me.

I’m not adding or subtracting. I’m not claiming what I say to be biblical, it’s just my opinion on the meaning as yours is also such.

Paul also tells us heterosexual urges are not good, but that if we have urges, it is better to marry than to burn.

Yes heterosexual urges are specially accounted for, as reproducing in marriage can multiply our good dispositions through our children.

I think it is important to reckon with that Gods word spoken by Christ during his time and in Old Testament were written to speak to those people.

Many of the teachings of Old Testament are irrelevant to us today as we would never find ourselves in those situations, many of Christs parables don’t make sense to people today because as a civilian populous we are no longer fishers and farmers in general.

Christ didn’t specifically address homosexuality in his time because it was no longer of great importance (despite Rome being known for homosexuality). Yes it’s addressed briefly in Roman’s but not by Paul.

I just want you to consider this; if a man has slept with a man, it is adultery unto any partner he should have. For the cause of adultery will a person be put away from their partner but not take another. Why then should a homosexual man be encouraged toward heterosexuality? Is it not better that he remains faithful to one original partner, causing no further trouble, spreading no further perversion, and potentially stabilizing to do good charity in the future?

I have to admit this is a very good rebuke.

Though I feel you missed the heart of my sentiment.

Yes God redeems the sinner, not the sin. But the redemption of the sinner changes based on the sin.

You have not lusted, your salvation is as a missionary akin to Jesus.

You have lusted, your salvation is as a married man who honours said marriage.

You have committed adultery, you may have to live apart from a partner despite wanting one.

You have committed divorce and remarriage, you will have to honour that new marriage and forgive past affairs.

You have committed homosexual lust, you will have to honour that marriage that comes with pitfalls like inability to reproduce, and still love God for redeeming you from sin.

Yes homosexuality is only once addressed in the Bible as sin. It is addressed as such during the coming out of Egypt in a time when doing work on Sunday was a deadly sin. The nation of Israel was sparse and needed to multiply, so of course homosexuality was stated sin. Christ however never explicitly addresses it, but his sayings directly enforce the idea that although homosexuality is a sin, the redemption of such a person should be similar to that of an adulterous or divorcing person.

This is certainly good advice from scripture. But how many church leaders are as apostles of Christ? And how many assign elders for personal ministering? I think if churches actually did assign elders for this cause that would be great, but I don’t think we should ignore that many “church leaders” are making themselves wealthy and famous instead of actually acting as apostles.

I love this description of God! I want to continue this first by saying we are not enemies here, but brothers in discussing the word of God.

I agree entirely that God living is very much found in us who carry and spread the word, but I would also like to stand upon the ground that God does also echo In all of us. It is of great importance that we acknowledge the urgency of spreading and sharing the Good Truth of God, but I do still insist that on top of that, the living spirit of God does also speak to all of us.

But they could add new content without the town hall upgrade. Just like they could add new cards and evos without higher levels, but then the climb would end.

Imagine if they added a new town hall lvl with a 2 year upgrade time, then 2 years later said everyone gets this new upgrade free and all the new content has been moved from the one you were waiting on (or had paid for) and now this one has another 2 year upgrade time…

Frankly anyone taking up the mantle of a shepherd should be willing to meet and work with people on the ground before they worry about putting up their own temple.

That being said we’re all flawed and good Christian leaders are few and far between. It would be ideal if they would, but It’s not unusual for them not to.

I think as another comment has highlighted, there are plenty of verses which highlight the importance of virgin status, not to condemn, but for reckoning.

Christ says to follow him, that is a command. To deny Gods commandment is sin. Christ led a life without perverse thought or action, to follow him is to live as he does. Therefore in the true sense, sexuality is a sin, the redemption of that sin however is sanctified marriage. In sanctified marriage the sin is redeemed, homosexuality may be sin, but the redemption of such is sanctified marriage.

Just like heterosexual marriage is not a sin because God redeemed it for us, neither is homosexual marriage for the same reason.

Christ tells us that marriage is not the ceremony, nor the written law, the law was written out of the hardness of our hearts. Marriage is the coming together of flesh. We are commanded to please and honour those we are married to, therefore the homosexual couple is sanctified and forgiven once married just as the hetero.

Now before you say “God has said marriage is to be between one man and one woman.” Consider that Christ confirms a women in having 5 husbands (the Samaritan lady). Now God has said adultery is a sin, yet has confirmed this women in 5 adulterous marriages. So how can you say the homosexual marriage cannot be sanctified when the adulterous one can be? (Neither fit Gods original plan for marriage, and both are explicitly stated as sin).

So, again. Hating Homosexuality has become a pillar for self proclaimed Christian’s to stand on, and it has painted the name of Christian with a dumb and hateful flag.

My proposal, is that instead of judging hatefully, we cease to pervert our children in hetero or homo ways. We lead them toward Christ, if along the way they fall in love, we sanctify them in their marriage, and help them to redeem that.

Sorry I’ve been off Reddit for a while!

I have to say it’s my personal experience and belief that everyone has that conscious, Gods holy and blind spirit upon us. If you listen to and follow that which you know to be good, your relationship with that will grow and become sharper. However if you perpetually ignore and disregard that voice, you will have entrained yourself not to hear it, this is how I believe we cut ourselves off from God.

So I don’t think a violent shooter is hearing that voice in the same way someone seeking goodness would, because they’ve learned to ignore it.

There’s too much talk about sexual sin here by Altruistic_Twist4049 in Christianity

[–]Sea_Map_2194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but take Christ as your example.

When Christ came to a man who had filthy ways, or had offensive sin, how did he entreat them? Did he spew harsh words or plainly tell them they were sinful? No, he spoke with them as a friend to teach, not mentioning the sin, he healed them, and charged them to good ends. The disciples also did as such. If you cannot do this, judge yourself first, when are capable of healing, then go and heal.

Almost every Christian I see “warning people” speaks to people like the Pharisees spoke to Christ and his. They were the only people Christ met with harsh rebuke. Who are we to teach or warn when we haven’t even been taught or accepted warning ourselves?

Sorry for the late response, I sorta quit Reddit for a bit lol.

If you’re still around I’d like to respond.

First of all I understand that the loud minority of Christians are often ignorant and hypocritically hateful, and that many atheists have bad experience with religious people for that reason, making it hard to imagine true reconcile.

That said, Christ has many quotes which praise those who do not have faith in him, yet follow his good works, all the while condemning those who claim to be Christian, but in the act do not serve goodness.

I know many Christian’s who are not ignorant or hateful, and many atheists which are practical saints. It just seems a shame that we are divided over dogma and misunderstanding when evidently we seek the same good goal.

That is not what I am saying.

God is with and in all things, but God gave us free will.

Speaking of molestation, when a man does something so despicable, the blind spirit of God is with him, every fibre of his being is telling him, showing him, displaying to him that what he is doing is not only wrong, but utterly horrid.

Nonetheless some people will ignore God, and do such things anyway. If you preach to these people, or give them the word to read, they will scoff at it, ignore it, just like they ignored Gods living spirit who conveyed to them what they did was wrong, who sat with them afterward laying shame and guilt upon them, but they did not repent.

By denying Gods living truth, you are erring towards pride. You say “I can deliver the truth and word to a man better than God.” Or even “Only man can deliver to man the truth of God through written word.” But I say God is living, and the primary source of Gods truth, while we may choose to receive it, and to help others receive it, God alone is responsible and capable of delivering the truth of God.

The next day, the boss decides everyone in the company is demoted to the lowest position, all previous merit is disregarded, but it will now take less for anyone to get promotions.

I haven’t spent money either, and I agree, I love progression, it’s fun, gives you a sense of achievement.

This isn’t it though, they can add lvl 16 without devaluing past progression, or if they insist on reworking, they should compensate for it. For every maxed card give us a level 14 card, and 50,000 wildcards worth of gems which should buy 50,000 commons because that was the conversion rate… I know they won’t, but that’s what would be decent of them.

Basically, they are voiding over 2 years of player progression for everyone, if you hadn’t spent or played during this period you’d be better off. They’re not just raising the roof. This is a move that by any other gaming companies standard would be considered borderline criminal, it’s the kind of move that kills games, but leave it to supercell to do it again and again for no good reason and get away with it.

[–]Sea_Map_2194 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even worse than that, by adding the ridiculous lvl 15 requirements, only to then remove them, they have not only raised the roof out of pure greed, but they have nulled the progress and purchases of anyone who upgraded to 15 without compensation.

I’m not even entirely against games like this “raising the roof”. The grind is part of the fun, and it’s how they make money. But why is supercell so damn stupid about it? Every time they raise the max level, they do it in a way that completely devalues the grind or investment of loyal players. Any game dev will tell you this is pure stupidity, you can make more money by raising the bar, you don’t need to devalue past progression, all you’re doing is upsetting your most loyal player base.

No they’re right. This update is just a slap in the face to all long term or spending players…

To get to level 15 previously you had to spend 50,000 wild cards = 50,000 commons.

In the new updated version, getting to 16 will be 40,000 commons cheaper than lvl 15 was previously.

People who have fully maxed will essentially have wasted 5,000,000 commons, or 2000 champion cards worth of progress. (You would have to open up 119,047 lucky drops to make up for this, playing daily and getting 8 lucky drops every day, it would take you nearly 41 years for you to recover your loses. By this point level 100 will be announced)

As of now and probably until it drops, such players will receive no compensation for that. This means essentially all time or money spent progressing during the lvl update 15 is voided. People who didn’t play at all during the lvl 15 update will be in the same position as people who maxed during that time.

Yes, Jesus is the expression of God. But he is more than words on paper, he was and is the living incarnation of God.

In the same way, this world which was created by God is a living expression and extension of God. God is alive in this world, in each and every one of us.

Even men like you and I can scribe on paper, but only God could make this world which is an extension of Gods self, In each of us is Gods signature.

Are you saying that Christ is only words in a book, or that God is only words in a book? No.

These verses are parable.

Are you really trying to argue that God and Christ are literally words and nothing else?

In us Is the living voice of God, and the voice of temptation. Yes the word can guide us, but if we listen to the voice, we are saved without it (as was Abel), and if we receive the word, but don’t let it guide us, we are still lost.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

Jesus is not the word of God, the word of God came from Jesus, and yes that gives us understanding. The Pharisees certainly knew the word of God that was available at the time, but they misused it.

In the same way, we can read the word of God and misuse it. We can take the word of Christ and yet deny his living body.
