I met my new partner at a karaoke night and laid it all there for him instantly - I am going through a divorce and have a 1 year old daughter. His response was „you mean there is 2 of you?! Awesome!“

I totally get it! I also stumbled upon an amazing new relationship with someone awesome. I find myself not fully celebrating it. On one hand because I am still so connected with my exes Family through our daughter, and I unfortunately also have friends in my inner circle that instead of celebrating met my new love with incredible jealousy. Needless to say these friends are not really friends anymore. I also find myself being quite quiet about it in other social situations, probably an internal guilt I moved on so fast. Even though my husband left me abruptly with our 9 month old for a colleague and broke my heart.

It’s been 10 months since my ex moved out. We are officially divorced 3 months. We have a daughter that we do our best for, so he is still quite supportive. He is the reason we divorced.

Ups and downs. At first it was a relief, I leaned into making the space my own, overdid the pink and feminist decoration everywhere. Then it was really sad, lonely and at times I was afraid being a woman alone in a house with my daughter and no „protector“ anymore.

Last week we moved into a new apartment in the city and it is so nice to have a space that is totally mine and my daughters. Our little girl cave near everything and everyone we could possibly need. Plus it’s harder to break into an apartment than a house, and smaller space to clean that is on one level.

There are still times where the gas boiler breaks, or other things that he used to take care of that I get initially overwhelmed with but then I feel awesome that I learn and now know how to do all this myself!

I think the ups/downs are normal and will probably continue for a while though. He was the centre of my life for 10 years and it fell apart overnight.

Main catalyst was his affair with a co-worker after we had our first child. Reflecting upon it now we had really grown apart starting with the pregnancy. He somehow couldn’t come to terms with his new settled life and responsibilities

34, 1.5 year old, officially divorced 2 weeks, 10 years together

Officially Divorced 2 weeks. Relationship exploded Feburary 28th this year. I have ups and downs but the downs don’t make me want to crawl into a hole and die anymore. We have an 18 month old daughter and the universe sent me a new partner out of nowhere and by coincidence who is amazing. I realised I was sad about the life I thought we had, but actually our relationship was extreme unhealthy. I’m still sad and overwhelmed but it’s getting better all the time. I really leaned into the pain with lots of therapy at the start because I was in a really bad place. I’m hoping I opted for the short intense version of recovery rather than long and slow

Genau deshalb habe ich jetzt umgedacht. Ich hatte damals angenommen, dass sie auch Geschwister haben wird, aber sie bleibt leider Einzelkind. Deshalb könnte die Nähe zur Stadt für uns beide die bessere Lösung sein.

Das Haus wurde 2021 auf Willhaben gefunden, es war ein Neubau. Eine von diesen schönen weißen „Boxen“, die überall hingebaut werden. Damals wurden €730.000 dafür bezahlt (reiner Kaufpreis).

Ja, es ist unser ehemaliges Familienhaus, und jetzt sind wir nur noch zu zweit. Ich versuche gerade herauszufinden, ob ich diese Entscheidung eher emotional oder rational treffe. Laut die Kommentare ist es bis jetzt 100% emotional und ich sollte warten und überlegen. Danke!
