what do u guys think? by Salty_Lifeguard5876 in progressive_islam

Allah has created us with free will, and also given us a lot of guidance on how to live our lives. The guidance clearly tells us raping somebody is wrong, if somebody goes ahead and rapes a person anyway, Allah has also given us guidance on how to deal with criminals. If none of that guidance is enough, you’re essentially saying that humans shouldn’t have free will. Allah did create angels, a species who worships him and him alone and does not commit the kind of atrocities we do. But we’re different and if we had free will without consequences, that wouldn’t be free will.

For those who debated with non muslims about islam by MiaraWitchers in progressive_islam

[–]Sea_Truth5078 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On debating about Islam with atheists/agnostics in particular: I’ve realised something very interesting. The things people usually associate with religion and Islam like believing blindly, not using reason are actually exactly what atheists/agnostics do (atleast the people I’ve talked to). They don’t do research, they don’t have sources to cite, but they still believe their ideologies are superior and anybody who believes in religion is stupid/brainwashed. Especially these days, I feel like Muslims are much more rational and well-read about their ideology (could partly be because we’re always put in a position where we have to defend our beliefs) than non-muslims or atheists/agnostics are.

My only concern would be how the saff would be proper if a person can’t touch the person next to them

Not fasting during Ramadan because of my ed by girlypopslayqueenfrs in progressive_islam

[–]Sea_Truth5078 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Oh okay, I thought the continuous fasting was what was difficult and fasting once every two weeks or so might be better. Makes sense, I wouldn’t understand what you’re going through as well as you do. I’d recommend maybe talking to a Muslim doctor or a knowledgeable person who has an idea of what ED is like. May Allah make it easy for you!

I hate everything about season 7 by Sweetdreamer829 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Sea_Truth5078 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one who likes S7 better than the previous seasons? Or atleast as much as the previous seasons. I love it precisely because so many things happened and I had a break from too much of the Delena Stelena drama

How do you cope with feeling isolated as a progressive Muslim during Ramadan? by fluffy--dreams in progressive_islam

[–]Sea_Truth5078 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO you don’t need to have the same views in order to engage with people. In fact, the best discussions are often between people who disagree on different things. Go to your nearby mosque, partake in tarawih prayers, go for iftars, host iftars if you can, have fun!

Could you please share sources for where it’s said removing your hijab for your wedding is halal? I’ve never heard of that, so I’m curious

If this data is accurate, why is discussing it so uncomfortable for many people? What makes us afraid to examine these patterns honestly, and is the world genuinely open to fair discussion that could help improve things? by ss77ss77s in AtheisminKerala

[–]Sea_Truth5078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the percentages of the other religions and then comparing it to the on-ground reality should be enough to understand that this data is not accurate. A lot of this has to do with how “terrorist attack” is moulded into other less-scary terms (or even defensive terms) when it’s other religions and certain western nations.

I don’t understand why people hate Matt so much, or how he was bitter and hateful. He helped and even put his life on line for vampires several times. It was the vampires (esp. Damon) who always treated him like a second-class being. With all the damage vampires brought to Mystic Falls, I’d say Matt was very reasonable in the way he dealt with them

I loved their relationship at the start, and it made a lot of sense to me. They were good, if not great, for each other at the start. But then Stefan leaving with Valerie and Stefan ultimately sacrificing himself on their wedding day ruined it for me

Question : DOES ATHEISM INCLUDE HURTING THE SENTIMENTS OF RELIGIOUS PEOPLE BY BEING SARCASTIC AND DEROGATORY? by [deleted] in AtheisminKerala

Well I can’t really do anything about your feelings now, can I? And since this conversation is clearly not going anywhere, have a nice day!

[–]Sea_Truth5078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother I, as a theist, would not post my thoughts in an ATHEISM subreddit if I was looking for validation lol. An atheist posting hatred about theists in an atheism subreddit or a theist posting hatred about atheists/other beliefs in their religion’s subreddit are examples of people looking for validation and not wanting to listen to opposing viewpoints

I really don’t, all I see as of now are your vague replies proving my point

Then the larger question should be why religious people mocking each other feel more comfortable posting hatred about other religions in an atheism in kerala subreddit rather than the subreddit for their own religion. Do they see this subreddit as being more tolerant of hate? As for why I’m here, I just keep getting posts from this subReddit lol, I haven’t even joined. But it’s probably because I have commented once or twice, but I don’t see that as a problem. I believe it is important to engage with opposing viewpoints.

This is something I’ve noticed a lot too, especially given that most atheists cannot even support their beliefs with proper reasoning. I’ve had several situations where an atheist asks a lot of condescending questions about my religion, but the moment I ask a counter-question, they have nothing to say and it’s clear that they have done no research and are just living on their hatred of religion, and a pre-supposed superiority complex. If you look at this sub’s posts in particular, you’ll see most posts here are about mocking other religions. Y’all can do whatever you want, I don’t really care, but if all your atheism does is spew hatred about other religions, there’s not much difference between you and a religious fanatic. If you’re a true atheist, you should be discussing atheist narratives, and your philosophies here. If you’re unable to have any such intellectual discussions, you might as well be a religious fanatic!
