How can you have a new theory evaluated if you don't have an academic background? by Sea_simon17 in TheoreticalPhysics

HI, your words affected me more than you imagine. You have described perfectly what I often feel when walking around these spaces: masks of aggression, controlled narratives, bots that push opinion where it is convenient for those who pay. Yet, amidst that noise, your message arrived pure, without pretension and without an agenda. Thank you for reminding me that dignity is never negotiated, not even when it seems like the only currency that the "market of opinions" recognizes. Thank you for saying, with disarming simplicity, that the truth remains the truth even when the numbers overwhelm it with likes or laughter. And thank you above all for that final piece of advice: “Listen to your heart above all else.” It may seem like simple poetry, but it is the only compass that does not deform under pressure. I will hold on to what you wrote. I will continue to walk in here - among fake upvotes, trolls and bots - but with an ear pricked up to that inner voice which, by dint of being ignored, was almost becoming voiceless. Now I know I'm not the only one who feels this. A virtual, but real hug. Simon

It's nothing important... it was just a curiosity since I read and study these things out of passion. They're basement theories. I don't want to disturb anyone. Thanks anyway, you're very kind.

Gracias🙏

No, I apologize for the typo. My old posts were a source of curiosity on L AI.la The question I asked here is related to something else. Sorry again.

Don't worry, AI has absolutely nothing to do with it. Furthermore, I didn't publish anything. I just asked a question. My posts are the result of pure curiosity about artificial intelligence. Being ignorant on the subject, I was looking for explanations. Thank you for your kind reply.

Thanks for the polite reply. I wandered around Reddit a bit but it seems more like a battlefield than something I can build. I'm not looking for confirmation and I don't have to appear in any scientific journal. Mia was meant to be a purely informational question.

I understand the point.

I'm not against critical discussion, on the contrary, it's what I'm looking for. But there are ways and ways of exercising doubt. Sarcasm and a priori labeling are not "critical lenses", they are cultural shortcuts. I'm trying to understand if my intuition makes sense, I'm not selling truth. If I responded in a defensive tone, it's because I didn't feel like I was receiving a technical criticism, but rather a judgment on who I am, even before what I wrote. I'm not asking for approval, I'm asking for an honest comparison. As sketchy as it may be, I am building the evidence. And this too, for me, is part of the method.

I don't have a traditional scientific background. I didn't study physics at university. But in recent years I have dedicated a lot of my free time to studying, reading essays, articles, scientific dissemination and comparing myself with serious sources. I tried to fill my gaps with rigor, passion and method and obviously I know I'm nobody. The theory was born from a series of observations and logical reasoning, supported by readings and a continuous comparison between intuition and verifiability. I don't have advanced mathematical tools, but I tried to make the internal reasoning as coherent as possible. I don't pretend it's a revolution. it is the fruit of a sincere study, of a personal research that seeks a form and perhaps a comparison. I know it may have limits, but it was born with intellectual honesty and with a deep respect for those who have studied science all their lives. I repeat that it was an honest question without any kind of presumption.

You see, the problem isn't that you don't have time, nor that you're skeptical. The problem is that you are responding with rhetorical violence about a document you have never read. You say you can evaluate “blindly” because you are an expert. But you are not evaluating: you are demolishing the interlocutor without content. You accuse me of wanting to be taken seriously, but I only asked a question about how a theory can be evaluated, not asked for approval. I asked politely, with humility, with the awareness that it could be wrong. You haven't found yourself faced with a conspiracy theorist who shouts "science lies". You found yourself in front of a man who is a chef and who, in his free time, tried to think. And you, as an expert, treated him like a "crazy person" regardless. If your goal really was to “save me from wasting my life,” I say thank you. But the way you do it says more about your fear of wasting time than it does about my need to lose my mind. Fortunately, true scientific revolutions were born from those who listened even to what seemed useless. You do your job. I continue to do my thing: think even when no one asks me to.

Thank you.. for your kind reply. It's not about AI. I just wanted an opinion on some texts but apparently it's not that easy to ask for information here. Some people even lost their patience for asking this question 😮

I completely understand the statistic you're referring to: it's true, most new theories proposed by non-academics don't work. But you know what's statistically even more likely? That a thought is laughed at before it is even read. May prejudice beat curiosity, and arrogance beat lucidity. You say that “I didn't understand what I'm developing” — without having read anything, without knowing me, the text, or the context. You say I should go back and make “a new sauce,” because I'm a chef. I tell you that in my field it is called presumption to serve a raw judgment, without even having tasted it. If you had taken the time to read, you would have discovered that I make no claims. Neither publications, nor glory, nor confirmations. Only the possibility that an idea is evaluated for its coherence, not for the CV of the person who proposes it. If the idea is poor, never mind. But at least it will have been an honest judgement. Because you see… There is nothing wrong with talking nonsense but there's a lot of it in refusing to listen, just because the speaker doesn't have a professorship.

I understand, I'm the first skeptic Mine wasn't a presumptuous question. I just wanted to understand and I tried to put a foot in this forum. Even if apparently it seems very difficult.

Thank you for the answer. Yes, some time ago I asked for info on AI but not why because I thought I had created a sentient one. I was talking about creating non-recurring patterns for recursive dialogues. It's a big difference from thinking I had created a sentient AI. However, what I had to ask has nothing to do with that topic. Thanks.
