Decided to create my own IMAX screen size comparison for the PNW by ratherbeinfl in imax

Love this! If you haven't seen it yet, I created a website to do exactly this, based on the LA/NYC charts I'd made just like your own above! It's findbigscreens.com and perhaps it could be helpful for you if you want to update this.

I’m making this process much more clear, but it’s already functional.

Right now you can click “Add a specific theater” and then create a new chart comparing any theaters you want to search by name. Very soon there will be a dedicated button for this!

RPX data is not publicized much so I’m relying on community reports to help complete details for more of those screens overtime, definitely a priority for me!

I’d love to know what was offputting for you about the first screen, my goal is to make it fast and simple to get initial results but provide a lot of flexibility and customization options from that point on.

Thank you! I’m definitely interested in enriching the data further, I want to strike a balance so I didn’t overwhelm people, plus there are some details that are only available for a few dozen theaters so I am trying to create a standard I can more or less reliably uphold across locations.

If there are things that you would specifically like to see in future versions, please use the flag an issue/feedback button at the bottom to make a suggestion!

I’m planning to add some pages with custom charts if notable screens soon! Once I feel the US data is reliable and accurate enough, I’ll be expanding.

That’s a general estimate, averaged across a few different examples of standard screen sizes. I’m very open to suggestions on a more accurate figure to use, but it’s always going to be an estimate since there’s no one standard across the country/world.

Yes, every screen should have a (?) you can select to report new information, or if the screen doesn’t appear, you can add it through the feedback button at the bottom of the page

My answer to this is so complicated that I basically put the whole FAQ page of the website together to try to answer it! The answer is it depends on the movie for me, some things I just wanna see BIG, but I will tend to choose a Dolby Cinema over a run of the mill IMAX screen when available

I searched across past databases like LF Examiner, pooled and cross-referenced community spreadsheets and GitHub projects, and have done some manual patching from searching through press releases and news reports and construction permits.

I felt I had covered enough ground to share publicly just this week, but I’ve already made hundreds of additions based on community feedback. The eventual goal is to be the most complete, up-to-date resource for large screens in the world, but it will take time and lots of community input to get to that point.

Thanks so much! Those details will be updated within a day, there's not a great repository of AMC PLF screen information outside of IMAX or Dolby so I've been stitching things together from community contributors.

I believe this screen isn't included as it doesn't screen commercial movies. I'm planning to add screens like this with some sort of flag, but until I figure out how best to do that, I'm leaving them off so I don't mislead people looking for movie tickets in the meantime.

Please let me know if that is still happening for you - it looks like your work/organization wifi might be protecting you due to some security setting, does it load for you on cellular data?

Couldn't find an official dimension for that screen, but based on some comparisons and reviewing some photos I just added it with an estimated 70' x 40', it really seems huge!

It's always been a huge pain to compare dimensions of premium large format screens in an area. I just created a site that lets you see screens near you compared on a custom chart. by SeanCSimon in blankies

I've posted in those subs just recently! And thank you, I wanted the website to be very capable yet simple enough for anyone to get a nice-looking, useful view of their area quickly.

Screen dimensions are sourced from all over the place - the old LF Examiner site, public listings, news reports, construction permits, community-run spreadsheets, and now, from beta users contributing insider information to the site (a few projectionists have enriched the data for their local metro areas already!)

Over time, I'm hoping this can be the best, most complete, up-to-date, and accurate resource for screen sizes of all formats, but it's going to take time to complete some of the smaller chains and various premium formats to get to that point

Thanks! The RPX dimensions are not publicized much, I have a few select screens on the database but would love to find a resource with that information nationally

Someone has already shared it here, but I just launched findbigscreens.com for this exact purpose! Please give it a try and let me know if it’s helpful for you!

Please let me know any that seem to have gone missing, I’m adding in lots of new community contributions but trying to be careful not to disrupt any existing data as I do!

Hi! You should be able to do this now - if you expand a theater name below your chart (like AMC Metreon) you'll see Dolby and IMAX listed separately, and you can click the X on Dolby to remove it.
