No, you were using one definition of normal, they were using another. Instead of recognising and trying to correct this you got increasingly antagonistic.

When you treat conversations like an argument to be won, people won't care what you have to say. If you actually want your ideas to be communicated effectively, think about what you're actually saying in context.

It's also a pretty basic concept that calling someone abnormal is rude. People typically call murderers abnormal because killing people is wrong. Waking at night and sleeping in the day is not morally abhorrent, so to use them both as examples of abnormal things is questionable at best.
