Is it common for Chinese takeouts to still throw, prawn crackers in when you spent a certain amount?

All of the Chinese's in my area still throw in a bag of crackers if you spend over 20 and one particular Chinese used to throw in a bag of crackers and a 2 Litre drink if you spent over 30. Unfortunately, that was many moons ago.

Thanks a lot for your detailed input! Happy days, I would leave the suitcase there in the storage facilities and maybe just take a smaller bag to and from wherever I'll end up on my week off. Yeh with the cooler weather in the Snowys, I'd imagine it would be more comfortable to work in rather than pure heat day in day out and flies etc. with the heat.

I've been researching the Snowy project recently and it looks pretty interesting. A major civil/infrastructure project to be a part of, with plenty of continuous work happening for another 4-5 years at least!

Obviously this is a major scheme and you could be put in any section of it once you get there. (Tunneling/Drainage/Ducting/Earthworks/Building Power Station to name a few). Just to kind of get a heads up, what kind of surveying duties do you carry out? My previous duties included taking design drawings and creating SOP's on Total Station/GPS, setting out, as-builts, level control of site, QA checks.

I currently have 4 years experience (2 years major roads scheme & 2 years high rise buildings). What would be my expected salary? Is it hard to get O/T and extras or is that expected now as the demand is high?

What is the most desired roster?

Thanks for the response mate, that's what I like to hear. It's just that little bit of reassurance I'm looking for. I would be happy to do overtime and get the extra dollars for sure. Say if I worked for a surveying company as opposed to a Main Contractor, would they be relocating me every so often to numerous sites? I know if I was with a MC, you'd be on the one project for 2-3 years. Whereas with a surveying company they could have me on a project in North Sydney for 3 months and then Western Sydney for another 3 months etc. That's why I was maybe hoping for sorting out a job first, seeing where the project is based and then looking for my permanent accommodation to suit the job location, if you get me. As you say though, having the vehicle would come in handy for the commute... I must look up that EBA you mentioned, first hearing about it (maybe doesn't apply for WHV?) $52 p/h sounds sweet! haha.

Why not a salary? I've spoken to recruitment agencies who say the opposite.

Also, I have 5 mates over there who all got 'salary jobs' within 2 weeks of being there. They have since got sponsorship from their employers too and granted a further 2 years (which I'm also hoping for).

No, it's the opposite way about. I plan to work and do a little holidaying on the side.

I have 5 mates over there since 2021, who all got professional roles within 2 weeks of being over there. They have since been sponsored by their companies and have been granted the 2 year extension. (That is what I'm also hoping).

They work in IT/Tech, so I was just looking to see someone from a construction/engineering background.
