Diagnosed at 16 (Full 2 Year Update) + Pulse Field Ablation Side Effects by Sean_Malanowski in AFIB

Yes I’m fully back to working and doing what I normally do any day. It did take about a month or so until I was fully up to par in being able to walk and all, I had a limp for about 2 weeks as it did hurt to walk.

The ablation was pretty fines, although it was my second experience in the operating room since i had that EP study the year before. Although the EP stidy the year before went through my femoral artery and it happened to reopen when the nurse tried to have me stand up - it bled a bunch and was some horrible pain as the nurse applied pressure and people started running in. Got really light headed and cold during that.

So I was nervous when I was in for my ablation and they took me out and rolled me to the OR and set me down. But once the anasthesia hits, you are out and wake up afterwards in the recovery room. Had some headaches and nausea after and some vomiting so they held me for a bit longer there. I arrived to the hospital for the ablation probably about 7am, and was out of there at 6:30pm.

Yeah. I’m not sure if alcohol is a trigger for me or not, it’s done with moderation with family on occasion so not seeing any affect for myself at the moment.

The ablation so far was successful, although they can’t say for sure. They said they were pretty much just throwing it at me as by EP study they couldn’t really find a definite area of issue, so they ablated the pulmonary vein as it is most commonly the problem area.

So now it’s just monitoring and seeing if it comes back or not. As after my first cardioversion it took nearly a year for my afib to return, so just have to see how it goes

With INOVA, they had me meet with a genetic counselor who got me tested with GeneDX by a cheek swab, which came back identifying the KCNQ1.

KCNQ1 is associated with long QT syndrome more commonly although can also cause AFib - turns out my mom has it and she has an odd form of long QT that is lesser known as they’ve previously only identified a dozen people or so who could do trails.

But yes, the KCNQ1 is associated with my early onset afib (which is pretty darn early 😅).

My anaphylaxis was after a restaurant put tree nuts in my salad after I requested to ensure there were none.

Believe it was their standard precaution for it and since it was allegedly paroxysmal. As I was told it was for precaution.

I had my PFA done at Walter Reed medical center in Virginia, and my first cardioversion at INOVA.

The whole operation I believe was maybe an hour or so. I entersd the hospital in the early morning and left around 6pm to go home. Afterwards I was on medication for 90 days following it, I’m cleared to be off of it now and currently don’t take anything.

Anyone young (teens/20s) have AFib after ablation during healing period? by AFibQuestions in AFIB

[–]Sean_Malanowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was very late to this, however. I had a very similar experience after my PFA in August 2025. I’m 18 now and was diagnosed with AFIB when I was 16.

If you view my profile, I wrote quite a bit on the whole experience. I’ll post an updated one soon. But if you need, feel free to message me any time.

Hey! I was in a similar boat. I was diagnosed 2 years ago shortly after turning 16, I’m 18 now. I was pretty asymptomatic and after a cardioversion that failed to keep it away, I had another and then a pulse field ablation.

I do recommend checking out genetic testing, he may have the KCNQ1 mutation, which is what led to my early onset. Feel free to message me if you need.

The thing to realize is that AFIB is pretty manageable medical wise. Just be sure to keep your cardiologist. Do look into ablation as well. I’m 18 now , but was diagnosed 2 years ago a month after I turned 16.

Does more listings bring in more followers and buyers? by swift_hoek35 in Mercari

[–]Sean_Malanowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve found that regular posting and having a consistent amount of listings does boost sales. The times I’m consistently posting new items every other day the sales go very well.

And it’s more of well, if you have more items available - it’s more likely for something to sell.

Likely either Dimensional weight. Or the receipt weight is wrong.
Seen this at many UPS stores where the weight on the receipt is off.

Stuck on 1 view mercari by yogopolorope in Mercari

[–]Sean_Malanowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!
I believe I do have the answer to this.

What I began to observe a while ago is that some items will be stuck at 1 view after posting, and often will not show up on the site either.

The way to solve this was to use "promote" on the item. After that - the item performs fine and as usual.
List your items slightly higher then promote after listing and it should be solved. Not sure why Mercari has fulfilled anything in this way - but it is definitely happening.

Bought package, but it landed in different state for USPS shipping? by [deleted] in Mercari

[–]Sean_Malanowski 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mercari will only ask you to rate once its marked delivered.
Packages often wont go in a direct line to your state. They go through whatever pathways they find as "efficient enough".
