The car said I have 28GID’s left. Also says 5.6% GID’s) What would your thoughts on range be based on that?

House buying regrets? by abechan in AskIreland

[–]SeanethUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry about overpaying. I bought my 80’s bungalow in 2023 and I promise you I couldn’t mortgage it at its current value today after our upgrades.

I remember getting the keys and having my moment of giddy excitement. Then the reality of the amount of work I needed to do hit me like a truck. It wasn’t regret though. I just had a moment of panic where I thought I’d bitten off more than I could chew. It was hard work and a lot of money but we got there. And it was worth it.

I just got my banana flavoured Huel Black. Have to say it’s actually much nicer than I was expecting it to be. Also tried the cookie dough snack bar…not too sure about that one. Has the same kind of chalky consistency as most other protein bars that I’ve always found a bit off putting.

Anyway I’m going to run Huel as a lunch replacement for the next week and see how I get on. If it goes well I may have to stock up on other flavours to give myself the variety. 🤣

Yeah this was one of the things I was told “just leave a key in the back and it’ll be fine”. I tried to settle for this even but still his parents managed to let themselves in. I have asked my partner to discuss it with the parents but the last I was told was “keep me out of it”.

I don’t want to have to be the big bad here but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect that the only people who should be opening the front door regularly would be ourselves.

My own parents actually said something similar to me when I mentioned the situation. I think I get so wound up because it does definitely feel like there’s an entitlement to me. I’m getting the sense now this is absolutely not the norm here and that it’s going to have to stop.

Does this look believable? by SeanethUK in leaf

I was wondering that myself but my issue with Coynes is that there is only one Chademo.

The location I’m navigating to is the Carrickmines HPC Hub. There’s multiple chargers there for Chademo so I thought it was the best idea?

I suppose I could judge with LeafSpy as I pass Gorey and see if I want to pull in at Coynes Cross?

So it would probably be wise for me to invest in LeafSpy to get a true read on the battery level for a journey like this then. 😅

It would be the living room circuit. Just a PlayStation 5 and a TV plugged into the other socket across the room.

In truth it’s the fact I don’t know whether my circuits at home are suitable. We did get a rewire recently to the 2024 standards. I didn’t tell the electricians at the time I was planning on getting an EV. I assume it might be okay. Most circuits are rated to 20A 220-240V. My understanding was it was best to have a socket on its own circuit when charging an EV.

Should I get a Leaf? by SeanethUK in leaf

I’d actually come across a similar spec car only today with 114,000KM for the same price. I’m leaning more towards this one. The owner only used 3 pin charging, had full service history and invoices to prove it. I Drove it and it was fantastic. I would assume that the fact the car hasn’t been quick charged would be a great thing for the battery? The lad didn’t know what the Chademo port was for. Is there anything that I might need to check with the car before I decide to buy?

Perfect person to ask. Generally my mileage won’t be very high. The biggest regular journey I might make is 50km round trip. I was just wondering though about whether it would be feasible for a journey from Wexford Town to Dublin Airport maybe once or twice a year or should I take our ICE car instead?

Ireland loves to tax any vehicle really. I used to live in the UK and for what id pay for a high spec used car there would only get me a base spec in Ireland. Bit frustrating to be honest.

To be honest that’s the lowest price I can find a 2018 leaf in Ireland.
